Job description

As Manager of the Member Education Consultant (MEC) team, you will play a dual role: leading a subset of communication consultants while managing your own portfolio of large national clients. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic leader who thrives on client engagement and team development. You will shape the member experience for some of Canada’s most significant retirement plans while coaching a high-performing team to deliver exceptional education and communication strategies. By combining hands-on client management with team leadership, you will amplify the impact of education strategies across multiple clients. Your ability to coach, influence, and deliver measurable outcomes will strengthen client relationships and support business growth.

Position Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
  • Act as a player/coach: manage your own client relationships while providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management for a group of communication consultants.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team.
  • Support career development through coaching, feedback, and skill-building initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to refine best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary contact for your assigned clients, overseeing the member experience from onboarding through engagement.
  • Lead strategic discussions with sponsors, analyzing member behavior and recommending education and communication initiatives.
  • Support large-case RFPs and shortlist presentations to retain and grow business.
Education Strategy & Communications
  • Develop and execute education strategies and calendars based on data and client objectives.
  • Oversee creation and deployment of custom communications leveraging multichannel technology to maximize reach and impact.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across team deliverables.
Project Management & Reporting
  • Drive project execution for both your clients and team initiatives, ensuring timelines, resources, and deliverables are met.
  • Monitor and report on success metrics for education and communication programs, adjusting strategies as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and influence at all levels—clients, sponsors, and internal teams—while maintaining a strong focus on member experience.
  • Confidence in delivering high-impact presentations in formal settings such as shortlist meetings and pension committees.
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to meet tight deadlines and pivot quickly.
  • Knowledge of group retirement products; RPA designation or willingness to obtain.
  • A resourceful, solution-oriented mindset with strong analytical skills.
  • Tech-savvy approach and familiarity with multichannel communication tools and digital platforms.
When You Join Our Team
  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.
