Native Education College (NEC) opened its doors in 1967 and became British Columbia's largest private Indigenous College. NEC's purpose is to contribute to an Indigenous, holistic experience that positions the Indigenous learner to uphold their responsibility and obligations to their family and nation of origin as autonomous Peoples. NEC provides culturally relevant education and training for Indigenous Peoples to pursue career aspirations and enhance academic goals in alignment with their diverse cultural identities and traditional knowledge.

Position Summary

The Marketing Manager leads NEC's strategic marketing, branding, and communications efforts. This role ensures consistency in the NEC brand across all communication channels and drives external engagement aligned with NEC's Strategic Plan and cultural values. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Operations, the Marketing Manager supervises the Marketing Specialist and manages vendor relationships while working collaboratively with NEC's leadership, Indigenous communities, media partners, and the public to build NEC's visibility and reputation.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute strategic marketing plans that reflect NEC's goals and Indigenous values.
  2. Lead campaign creation, media relations, and public communications.
  3. Manage NEC's digital and print content creation with a focus on Indigenous storytelling and engagement.
  4. Maintain NEC's brand identity and ensure culturally respectful, visually engaging promotional materials.
  5. Strengthen ties with Indigenous communities through marketing initiatives and outreach.
  6. Act as the primary media contact and spokesperson during critical events.
  7. Manage marketing budgets and ensure cost-effective campaign execution.
  8. Build marketing assets and databases such as interviews, testimonials, and community stories.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field; Master's preferred.
  2. Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or branding.
  3. Proven leadership experience with supervisory responsibilities.
  4. Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities.
  5. Proficiency in SEO, analytics tools, and content management systems.
  6. Strong media relations, storytelling, and digital marketing skills.
  7. Cultural competency and sensitivity to Indigenous traditions and protocols.

Appointment to this full-time position will require a formal criminal record check should a recent one not be on file, the details of which may preclude finalizing an offer of employment.
