The Opportunity

We’re looking for someone who is a fan, thinks like a fan, and acts like a fan of the brand. Someone who understands the modern customer and anticipates their expectations and dislikes from brands. The ideal candidate is familiar with these nuances and can translate that knowledge into innovative ideas that elevate our creative strategy and push the brand towards culturally inspired, groundbreaking concepts.

Duties
  • Work with agency teams and Social Supervisor to establish a content calendar that engages our online communities across platforms, ensuring McDonald’s maintains a consistent voice and strategic message.
  • Lead the development of social-first initiatives and identify key moments for our brand to participate in social, cultural, brand, and trend opportunities to enhance relevance.
  • Measure and monitor the success of social media initiatives.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and cultural moments, whether by trying the latest TikTok sounds or analyzing why something is trending online.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within marketing and the impact team to define and bring to life our role within community and culture.
  • Work closely with the External Communications team to protect and defend the McDonald’s brand.
  • Provide oversight and consultation on managing issues in social ecosystems, partnering with guest relations, legal, and government affairs.
  • Oversee a robust social media monitoring program to identify risks, competitive updates, and potential escalation issues.
  • Manage the development and execution of key brand campaigns within the marketing calendar, executing strategies, leveraging consumer insights, inspiring creative agencies, and engaging cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate campaign production and internal execution to bring major brand moments to life in media and our restaurants.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience managing social media and marketing for large-scale consumer brands.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Deep understanding of social publishing, monitoring, and listening tools.
  • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to create, ideate, and uncover new angles or craft engaging stories.
  • Adaptable, open-minded, and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Experience working on complex, large-scale, and time-critical projects.
  • Strong thinking agility, knowing when to activate on trends or observe from afar.
