What will your typical day look like?
As a Manager, you will support clients throughout the M&A lifecycle, helping them refocus their finance capabilities and identify optimal transformation strategies. You will provide subject matter knowledge to facilitate:
- Defining the Finance function’s vision, strategy, and operating model leading up to transaction close and post-close.
- Performing finance process and technology analysis to achieve integration, separation, migration, rationalization, or cost optimization objectives.
- Designing interim/target state financial processes (e.g., financial close, order to cash, procure to pay, planning, and budgeting).
- Conducting Finance benchmarking and developing business cases.
- Assessing Finance technology architecture.
- Conducting synergy review and other financial assessments.
- Managing overall project execution.
You will support business development opportunities, lead project workstreams, and apply your industry knowledge to contribute to Deloitte’s Deal Transformation and Post Merger Integration (DT & PMI) practice. As a leader within the practice, you will be responsible for business development, project delivery, and practice-building initiatives.
The M&A Finance Manager will focus on supporting the execution of Finance initiatives throughout the M&A lifecycle. The Manager will collaborate with senior leaders and manage junior M&A Consulting practitioners. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day interactions with client stakeholders: Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients; and establish and sustain long-term relationships with clients.
- Engagement management: Support engagement leaders with engagement scoping, planning, management of engagement economics and risks; manage engagement teams; develop deliverable structure and content; support buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client.
- Contribute to practice development and eminence: Participate in the creation of practical solutions and methodologies; support and contribute to the development of "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents; and participate in or support industry and eminence events sponsored by the firm.
- Talent development: Develop high performing people and teams by being a counselor and coach for junior team members, provide input into the staffing process, participate in staff recruitment and retention activities, and provide support for delivery teams and staff.
- Develop core offering expertise: Leverage deep personal expertise in M&A and Finance service offerings to support sales pursuits and develop marketplace eminence.
- Sales and business development: Participate in business development activities, manage pursuit teams, participate in aspects of the proposal development process, and support the development of proposal pricing strategies.

Deloitte’s DT & PMI practice delivers comprehensive advisory services for clients undertaking M&A and value creation activity. Our practitioners are involved in all phases of the M&A lifecycle, including strategy, due diligence, operational readiness, pre- and post-close integration/separation planning and execution, and follow-on transformation.
M&A Finance
Our Finance M&A specialists help our clients proactively plan, coordinate, and manage finance-focused initiatives throughout the M&A lifecycle. The services offered cover the full range of Finance-related M&A efforts, including, but not limited to, operating model design; financial close optimization; capital deployment optimization; finance organizational/operations transformation; and finance process/technologies integration.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree with 6+ years (or a master’s degree with 5+ years) of relevant experience in a similar role in consulting or industry (management consulting, venture capital / private equity, or related experience delivering M&A advisory / Finance transformation projects).
- 2+ years of team lead or management experience.
- Relevant certifications including CPA, CFA, MBA, and/or other professional designations (or in progress) are an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous and changing requirements.
- Strong relationship management skills, including partnering with senior executives to define how they approach M&A – in alignment with their corporate strategy – to create value and enable them to compete effectively in their industry.
- Proven oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (i.e., MS PowerPoint & Excel modeling).
- Superior hypothesis-based problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
- Experience in financial analysis, business process reengineering and operational performance improvement analysis.
- Experience in conducting financial modelling and analysis, including synergy review, working capital assessment, cash flow assessment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and interest in key industry trends and ability to guide clients on concepts for M&A engagements.
- Passion to improve internal processes, and promote knowledge sharing in the team, by contributing to the various forms of market eminence.
Experience in:
- Delivering M&A or transformation projects, accompanied by Finance expertise, including, but not limited to:
- Month end close controls and processes.
- GL optimization.
- Finance operations transformation.
- Systems and technologies that support/enable the Finance function (e.g., Oracle, SAP, and Workday).
- Financial modelling and analysis.
- Synergy review and assessment.
- Identifying key client issues, determining client needs, evaluating and validating analyses, and developing recommendations.
- Cross-functional project management, contingency planning, and Day 1 planning to help execute large Finance projects for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Guiding clients on key concepts for M&A engagements including, but not limited to, integration/separation planning and execution, stranded cost analyses, business continuity during transformation, and synergy identification and capture.
Total Rewards
The salary range for this position is $83,000 - $175,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program. Deloitte is fair and competitive when it comes to the salaries of our people.
