CareerBeacon in Canada seeks a Manager of Long Term Care for CBCHC - Corner Brook Community Health Centre. This permanent full-time leadership position reports to the Regional Director of Long Term Care and will oversee planning and opening of a new 45-bed facility.

The successful candidate must demonstrate LEADS in a Caring Environment competencies, with strong leadership, collaboration and accountability across teams and services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health care discipline with 5 years’ health care experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with older adults.
  • Minimum 2 years’ management or 4 years’ leadership within the last 5 years.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills; demonstrated effective leadership.
  • Willingness to complete the degree within five years of appointment.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Director of Long Term Care, the Manager of Long Term Care will be accountable for providing leadership in the planning and opening of the new 45 Long Term Care beds, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating program activities. The manager may be required to cover other areas.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the key skills, behaviours, abilities and knowledge as outlined in the five domains of the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.

QUALIFICATIONS: A baccalaureate degree in a health care related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working within a health care discipline and registration through a provincial regulatory body are required. Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with older adults. A minimum of two (2) years’ management experience or four (4) years’ of leadership experience within the last five (5) years is also required. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential, and demonstrated effective leadership is required.

*A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.

In the event no suitable candidate is found with the above noted qualifications, consideration may be given to applicants who do not currently possess a Bachelor’s Degree, provided they are willing to complete same within five years of appointment to the position. In this case, the successful applicant must be prepared to demonstrate proof of registration/enrollment to an appropriate degree program within the first year of appointment to the position. Furthermore, the successful applicant is required to provide annual updates based on the progress of each semester of the program.
