The Impact You Will Make
- The Manager, Legal & Compliance will join the Legal & Compliance department to help maintain and continuously build out a mature program focused on delivering a robust legal and compliance function for Fresenius Kabi Canada.
- The successful candidate will have experience in delivering complex cross functional projects and should have excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- The role will be responsible for helping to adhere to a global compliance and privacy framework which ties regulations to requirements, standards, and controls, with a focus on identifying and operationalizing new or improved commercial compliance and privacy processes, procedures, and technology in order to deepen our customers’ trust.
- The role will report to the Director of Compliance, Data Privacy & Ethics, and will work closely with the Global Privacy and Compliance teams, and all other business units across the company.
What You’ll Bring
- Knowledge & Experience. You possess a Juris Doctor degree. Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) or equivalent certification preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of two (2) years of direct experience in a private practice or in an in-house legal setting, with roles involving privacy and/or compliance, ideally within the pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry, preferred. Experience with standards, policy and procedure development is a plus.
- Attitude & Passion. You are self-motivated and able to work productively with minimal supervision. You have proven your ability to adhere to standards and procedures and maintain continuous confidentiality. Strong communication skills and cross functional experience with managing projects and stakeholders, and presenting complex ideas to stakeholders in way that is practical and understandable.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills. You maintain strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and handle fluctuating workloads simultaneously. Your organizational and problem-solving skills are strong while identifying areas for continuous improvement. You have excellent project management and follow up skills and are deadline oriented with a strong ability to prioritize tasks.
- Technical experience. You are proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as working in electronic Document Management System. Your critical thinking and decision-making skills are above average and you demonstrate excellent analytical skills and high level of accuracy.

Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Manager, Legal and Compliance to support the design, implementation, and oversight of the Canadian legal department and compliance programs within a dynamic and highly regulated environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring adherence to internal policies, legal standards, privacy regulations, and industry codes, while supporting cross-functional initiatives that promote a strong culture of compliance and ethics across the organization.
JOB RESPONSIBILTIES
- Manage a broad range of legal matters including contract negotiation, litigation, regulatory compliance, and local legal advisory support.
- Provide best-in-class legal guidance and training to Canadian business units across departments.
- Lead compliance approval workflows, privacy reviews, and the implementation of business process controls.
- Identify compliance risks, monitor adherence to policies and SOPs, and recommend improvements.
- Translate laws, regulations, and policies into actionable procedures and training for business units.
- Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships to support compliance program execution.
- Prepare and maintain compliance reports, meeting minutes, dashboards, and tracking documents.
- Serve as secretary for compliance committees and support project contract management plans.
- Conduct PIAs, compliance training, privacy audits, and off-site monitoring as required.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) and 2+ years of legal and/or compliance experience in private practice or in-house roles
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or healthcare industry preferred
- Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and cross-functional project management skills
- Familiarity with global compliance frameworks and regulations (e.g., PIPEDA, GDPR, FCPA)
- Proven ability to develop policies, procedures, and standards
- Broad legal experience (e.g., litigation, privacy, commercial, regulatory, IP, corporate)
- CIPP, CIPT, or equivalent privacy certification preferred
Skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Bilingual in English and French (written and verbal) is a strong asset.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to collaborate with all levels both inside and outside the organization
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
