Job summary

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Manager to provide strategic leadership for the Learning Institute. You will design and evaluate education programs across the province, ensuring evidence-informed curricula and flexible delivery.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in Nursing, Education, or related field.
  • Active-practicing licensure and in good standing with NSNMR or related health discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years in education.
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive leadership in education.
  • Minimum of 2 years in curriculum development and design.
  • Minimum 5 years of practice in related discipline.
  • Experience in planning and delivering competency-based education within a complex service model.
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory frameworks for health professions.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with ability to interpret program data.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and negotiating skills.
  • Experience in financial planning and human resource management.
  • French language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction for the Learning Institute.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate pre- and post-licensure education programs and continuing professional education.
  • Ensure curricular design and educational methodologies are evidence-informed and evaluated.
  • Coordinate resources to develop and deliver responsive, flexible programming province-wide.

About The Opportunity

The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.

Reporting to the Director, Nova Scotia Health Learning Institute for Health Care Providers, the Manager provides leadership for the strategic direction for the Learning Institute. The Manager contributes to the design, development, and evaluation of all pre and post licensure education programs and continuing professional education offered by the Learning Institute. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that curricular design and educational methodologies for programs are evidenced informed and based on best practices, and that all programming is evaluated to ensure it meets intended outcomes. The Manager is responsible for ensuring required resources are available to develop and deliver responsive, flexible and innovative programming using a variety of methodologies and in a variety of locations throughout the province for the bridging/re-entry, specialty nursing and interprofessional programs offered. The Manager is responsible for engaging in needs assessment and strategic planning for any new educational offerings required to support the effective, efficient and sustainable delivery of services and programs.

About You
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or related field required
  • Active-practicing licensure and in good standing with Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator (NSNMR) or other related health disciple required
  • Minimum of 5 years in the field of education required
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive leadership positions in education required
  • Minimum of 2 years in innovative curriculum development and design required
  • Minimum 5 years of practice in related discipline required
  • Experience in planning and delivering competency-based education and clinical learning programs within a complex, integrated service model in collaboration with multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform innovative, flexible and responsive learning and educational programming and quality improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks applicable to the practice of health professions
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with ability to interpret program evaluation data to inform quality and performance indicators and benchmark
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and negotiating skills with the ability to develop and sustain alliances with the academic and health care sectors
  • Experience in financial planning and human resource management
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation And Benefits
  • Pay Scale Type: Management
  • Band: MGT06
  • Hourly Rate: $53.59 - $65.65
  • Annual Salary: $104,498 - $128,010
