If you are a talented and experienced Municipal Engineering & Land Development Manager, Aplin has the right opportunity for you! Our client, a leader in their field, has partnered with Aplin to grow their team in Northeast British Columbia!

The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a motivated Manager, Land Development and Municipal Engineering for our Northeast BC Infrastructure team. Reporting to the Director, Land Development and Municipal Engineering, the successful candidate should have a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in development and municipal engineering. This position will be responsible for leading the local team for the Northeast BC region in project management, design coordination, business development, and municipal infrastructure projects.

What You Can Expect to Do Here:

  • Develop and implement business development strategies, including coordination with other internal business lines.
  • Manage and deliver projects in land development and municipal infrastructure. This includes report and proposal writing, business development, client liaison, and project management.
  • Monitor and manage overall workload and staffing levels within the department to maintain utilization at target levels. Work with leadership and other managers to support inter-office collaboration and resource sharing to balance workloads and meet project delivery objectives.
  • Accountable for the overall financial and operational performance of the department under your direction, including achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Responsible for overall resource management, including recruitment, team building, staff development, performance management, and salary review processes. Implement and track career development plans to support skill development, succession management, career pathing, and staff retention.
  • Provide effective leadership and collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Lead, develop, and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical support staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Degree in Engineering with 8+ years of consulting and/or municipal experience.
  • 4+ years of experience managing and mentoring technical staff.
  • Professional Engineer designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA is required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proven experience in business development.
  • Ability to mentor staff effectively.
  • Strong background in customer service, client management, and proposal/report writing.
  • Knowledge of municipal clients and the market in Vancouver and surrounding regions.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Extensive experience in Land Development and Municipal Engineering design and construction, with specific expertise in water, sanitary, and stormwater projects involving both renewal and replacement.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
