Job summary

CPP Investments in Toronto is seeking a Manager, Investment Structure Management to oversee pre-close structuring and ongoing maintenance of investment entities. You will liaise with internal teams to navigate complex legal structures and ensure seamless transaction closings.

You will coordinate new entity setups, ensure governance compliance and post-closing management, while driving efficiency and leveraging AI tools for process improvements and cross-functional initiatives across CPP

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in investment operations, structuring or related roles.
• Experience designing or improving operational processes with change management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal partners to identify and address structuring and operational complexities of CPP Investments’ legal entity structures.
• Coordinate the establishment of new legal entities and address governance requirements with investing teams.
• Support structuring and transaction closing processes for various investment products.
• Build trusted relationships with investing departments and understand nuances between asset classes.
• Maintain and manage CPP Investments’ structures post-closing and support quarterly reporting.
• Apply AI tools where applicable to improve processes and outcomes.

About the Opportunity

• Support the Director in the pre-close/structuring and ongoing maintenance of new investments, exits and restructurings, which includes:
  • Work with internal partners to identify and address structuring and operational complexities of CPP Investments legal entity structures.
  • Coordinate the establishment of new legal entities and address legal and governance requirements in support of CPP Investments’ structures in partnership with investing teams and non-investing teams.
  • Provide support for structuring and transaction closing process for various investment products (e.g., track deal timelines, develop a detailed plan including steps and timelines, maintain meeting minutes and project-manage completion of pre-close activities amongst internal partners).
  • Build trusted relationships with investing departments and understand nuances between asset classes to enable the establishment of new or improved processes.
• Provide ongoing support to maintain and manage CPP Investments’ structures post-closing, which includes:
  • Contribute to the ongoing operational activities of wholly owned CPP Investment entities to ensure compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly reporting materials to enhance visibility into operational and risk metrics.
• Apply a forward-thinking approach in being aware of matters across the team with a view to create synergies and improve our processes, including applying AI tools where applicable.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation around how CPP Investments manages its investment structures.
• Partner with other internal CPP Investments partners to work on cross-functional workstreams and initiatives.
• Assist in various special projects and initiatives as CPP Investments works towards our One Fund Strategy.

About You

• Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field
• 6+ years of relevant experience in investment operations, structuring, consulting, private equity, accounting, transaction execution, or related roles
• Hands-on experience designing, improving, or executing innovative operational processes or workflows, including change management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex or ambiguous situations with sound judgement and a commercial mindset
• High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality outputs
• Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and levels
• Self-starter with a solutions-oriented mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Highly collaborative and enjoys being a part of a culture of excellence, is flexible and constantly strives to innovate
• Preference for professional designation such as CFA, CPA, or CBV
