Reporting to the Director, Sivumuaqatigiit (Director), the Manager of Inuit Employment Initiatives leads the design, implementation, and management of career development and internship programs for Inuit in the Government of Nunavut, its boards, and agencies. The Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing workplace development programs for Inuit. The incumbent collaborates with client departments, staff, and departmental management to continuously improve these programs and develop innovative opportunities to enhance succession planning, career, and leadership development of Inuit.

The Manager designs, implements, supervises, promotes, and reviews Inuit Employment initiatives at Sivumuaqatigiit. They regularly review and update program parameters using resources such as the Nunavut Inuit Labour Force Analysis Report and GN Community Profiles. The incumbent establishes strong linkages to influence client departments in their efforts to develop an Inuit workforce. They set priorities, adjust approaches to meet needs, and identify action items for Inuit Employment initiatives, while enhancing career development and employment opportunities for GN Inuit employees.

The Manager supports the Department of Family Services in developing and implementing a government-wide career development framework and assists client departments in selecting and implementing techniques for advancing Inuit employment in the GN. These include identifying career pathways, preparing individual plans, developing internships, and preparing succession plans as part of Inuit employment strategies.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required typically include a recognized degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, plus three years of experience in human resources, training and development, or a relevant field, with emphasis on staffing, recruiting, career development, HR planning, and reporting.
