Job summary

Mattamy Asset Management is seeking a Manager, Internal Audit & Risk Management in Toronto (Hybrid). The role leads audit and risk engagements, builds governance and risk practices, and mentors a growing team across North America.

You will drive risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting while partnering with leadership to improve processes and controls. A CIA/CPA/CISA/CRMA or equivalent designation is preferred.

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Professional designation (CIA/CPA/CISA/CRMA) required or actively pursuing.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in internal audit or risk management, with at least 1 year in a manager/supervisory role.
• Experience leading audit, advisory, or risk engagements from planning through completion.
• Experience supervising, coaching, and developing team members.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage data analytics and automation to enhance assurance and decision-making.
• Experience partnering with business leaders to identify risks and strengthen controls.
• Knowledge of internal control frameworks and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills for senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

What you’ll do

• Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic business partner, leveraging expertise in internal audit and/or enterprise risk management to strengthen Mattamy's control environment while supporting the achievement of business objectives.
• Identify emerging risks, operational efficiencies, and improvement opportunities through audit and risk management engagements, providing practical and value-added recommendations to management.
• Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of complex audit and advisory engagements, ensuring risk-focused coverage, high-quality deliverables, and alignment with organizational priorities.
• Drive the continued evolution of Mattamy's Risk Management program, including risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting processes that support strategic decision-making.
• Partner with business leaders across the organization to challenge assumptions, promote risk awareness, and enhance ownership of risk and controls within their operations.
• Manage, coach, and develop a growing team of audit and risk professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
• Partner with the Director to establish departmental priorities, optimize resources, and execute the annual audit and risk management plan.
• Communicate complex risk, control, and governance matters to stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership, in a clear, concise, and impactful manner.
• Monitor industry trends, leading practices, regulatory developments, and emerging risks to proactively enhance Mattamy's risk management and internal audit capabilities.
• Contribute to the strategic development of the Internal Audit & Risk Management function by advancing methodologies, tools, data analytics capabilities, and continuous improvement initiatives that increase the value delivered to the business.
• Travel periodically to Mattamy divisions and business operations across North America (approximately 20%) to develop relationships, gain business insight, facilitate engagements, and support organizational initiatives.

What you bring

• Professional designation (CIA, CPA, CISA, CRMA, or equivalent) required, or actively pursuing one.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in internal audit or risk management, with at least 1 year in a manager or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated experience leading audit, advisory, or risk management engagements from planning through completion.
• Previous experience supervising, coaching, and developing team members.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance assurance, risk management, and business decision-making processes.
• Experience partnering with business leaders to identify risks, improve processes, and strengthen control environments.
• In-depth knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk assessment / management methodologies, and audit procedures.
• Intellectual curiosity, sound professional judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Previous experience in the homebuilding, manufacturing, or construction sector
• Exposure to corporate AI tools and Power BI

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $130,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.

You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy’s annual bonus program which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
