Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC in Vancouver is hiring a Software Development Manager to lead a team through the full software lifecycle, owning technical vision and a strategic roadmap. You will partner across organizations to deliver impactful results for millions of customers.
The role emphasizes coaching engineers, navigating ambiguity, and architectural decision-making at Amazon's scale, with a focus on high-quality, maintainable systems.
Are you a software development leader who thrives on building high-performing teams and delivering products that matter to millions of customers? We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team of engineers through the full software lifecycle - from design and architecture through deployment and ongoing operations. In this role, you will own the technical vision and strategic roadmap for your team's systems, define how your software solves real customer problems, and partner across organizations to deliver impactful results.
AWS Simple Workflow (SWF) provide customers with the capability to build workflows orchestration capabilities that will solve customer business problems.
You will balance tactical execution with long-term planning, shaping both the technology and the people who build it. If you are energized by coaching engineers, navigating ambiguity, and making meaningful architectural decisions, this is an opportunity to do all of that at Amazon's scale.
You might start your morning reviewing operational dashboards and triaging an incoming request from a partner team, then shift into a design review where you challenge assumptions and help engineers refine their approach. After a one-on-one coaching session with a direct report, you collaborate with product and engineering peers to prioritize the next quarter's roadmap. Throughout, you balance hands-on technical judgment with people leadership, ensuring your team has the clarity and support they need to deliver great software.
Our team is focused on building software that directly improves the customer experience at Amazon. We operate in an environment where engineers take ownership of their systems end-to-end, and where collaboration across teams is essential to solving complex problems. We value inclusive leadership, continuous learning, and a culture where every voice contributes to better outcomes. If you want to lead a team that ships meaningful products and grows together, we would love to hear from you.
