Job Summary

The Manager III, Material Recovery Facility (MRF) ensures high standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by managing daily MRF operations and maintaining cost efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  1. Ensure smooth site operations including gatehouse, sorting, and loading.
  2. Maintain optimal system performance.
  3. Minimize handling and operational costs.
  4. Reduce truck turnaround times.
  5. Propose operational improvements.
  6. Act as liaison for community relationships and customers.
  7. Oversee and manage contractual obligations.
  8. Ensure compliance with WM’s Mission to Zero standards and safety regulations.
  9. Prepare and analyze budget data.
  10. Foster a positive, team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
  11. Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the MRF through inspections and preventive maintenance.
  12. Manage personnel including hiring, coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
  13. Conduct and participate in safety meetings.
  14. Provide training and presentations as needed.
  15. Update and submit reports promptly.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervision of 4-5 full-time employees and indirect supervision of approximately 40-45 employees.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years relevant experience.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred: Experience leading a team of 4-5 salaried employees including managers and supervisors.
