What will you be doing!

  • Managing and leading the HR and Payroll team, focusing on identifying synergies and process alignment within the employee life cycle.
  • Overseeing the operations of the HR Service Delivery and Payroll Services functions.
  • Assigning work, directing the activities of team members or project members in the completion of tasks.
  • Leading committees and/or work groups relevant to the work area.
  • Project Management:
    • Acting as a lead on major projects that enhance the HR Service Delivery and Payroll Services processes.
    • Collaborating with other members of the Human Resources and Total Rewards Team on various projects to ensure alignment within the function.
    • Strategic innovation and change champion.
  • HR Service Delivery and Payroll Services Resources Management:
    • Working with the Total Rewards team to launch the annual performance management, such as objective setting, performance management, individual development plans, and succession planning.
    • Identifying gaps in areas and developing succession.
    • Overseeing, improving, and establishing key metrics to ensure goals are met.
    • Overseeing the hiring process within the department, with successful candidate selection.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • A degree or diploma from a college or university program in the field of Human Resources or Business Administration.
    • CHRP/CHRL/PLP designation.
  • Experience
    • 8+ years of experience leading an HR and Payroll team.
    • Over 8 years of experience in high-volume employee life cycle management.
    • Experience working in a multi-union environment.
    • Expert using HRIS and payroll system software, Dayforce, Oracle, ServiceNow.
    • Experience implementing HRIS and payroll system software, as well as developing end-to-end process improvements.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Energetic leader, tech-savvy with the ability to delegate effectively.
    • Ability to initiate and resolve problems, expedite work plans, allocate resources or take other appropriate actions.
    • Self-motivated, able to work with broad direction and provide appropriate support to the team.
    • Demonstrated analytical skills, the ability to analyze information, draw conclusions, and make practical recommendations quickly and effectively.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling successful interaction with peers, customers, technical staff, colleagues, management, regulators and senior management.
    • Strong working knowledge and ability to interpret the Canada Labour Code, Collective Agreements and Company Procedures.
    • Expert in employee life cycle management.
    • Proficiency and knowledge of Oracle HRIS, Ceridian Dayforce, and ServiceNow are assets.
    • A strong background in end-to-end payroll processing, including monthly and quarterly reporting, as well as calendar year-end deliverables, is considered an asset.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required

    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location:

CNL works with employees across Canada to enable a remote workforce where possible. Our work-from-home employees are provided with the equipment required to be successful: laptop, monitor, external keyboard and mouse, etc. Of course, we always love a visit to the site when possible!
