Job description

Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Manager, HR Business Partnering to work out of our St. Albert. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the HR Business Partnering function and providing strategic human resources support to assigned client groups. The role oversees the delivery of team member relations, performance management, team member engagement, workplace investigations, policy interpretation, and HR advisory services across the organization. Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the HR Business Partnering team, ensuring the consistent delivery of Human Resources services and support.
  • Establish service delivery expectations, priorities, and performance standards for the HR Business Partnering function and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure consistency in the interpretation and application of Human Resources policies, procedures, and employment practices across the organization.
  • Oversee departmental workload planning, project execution, and resource allocation.
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations related to team member relations, team effectiveness, organizational effectiveness, performance management, change management, and team member engagement.
  • Lead or support workplace investigations involving policy violations, workplace conflict, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and other team member concerns.
  • Monitor team member relations trends and recommend proactive solutions to address organizational risks.
  • Provide guidance to leaders on performance management practices, coaching approaches, corrective action processes, and team effectiveness.
  • Facilitate alignment between business objectives, team performance, and organizational priorities.
  • Partner with leaders to support organizational structure reviews, role clarity, team effectiveness, and operational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Lead and support team member engagement initiatives, surveys, action planning, and culture-building activities.
  • Promote retention strategies and initiatives that strengthen engagement and organizational culture.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation and organizational requirements.
  • Support audits, investigations, reporting requirements, and risk mitigation initiatives related to Human Resources practices.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Development, or a related field.
    CPHR designation is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience in Human Resources business partnering, team member relations, investigations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic Human Resources advice to leaders.
  • Experience managing complex team member relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, Human Resources best practices, and organizational effectiveness principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Industrial, manufacturing, forestry, or operational experience is considered an asset.

  • Ability to lead, develop, coach, and support Human Resources professionals and organizational leaders.
  • Ability to support organizational change initiatives through effective stakeholder engagement, communication, and implementation support.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish credibility, build trust, and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, assess risk, and make sound and timely decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, initiatives, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
