Job description

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Health Services or designate, the Manager of Health Services oversees and manages interdisciplinary teams providing direct care to patients, residents, or clients. This position is responsible for leading and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient health services. The manager inspires and leads staff across the organization to adopt integrated, patient/resident/client-centered care pathways and service delivery models. The role includes operational management focused on service delivery in a fiscally responsible manner, partnering with leadership and stakeholders to support access to culturally respectful health services. The manager monitors key performance indicators and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate care through the clinical quality framework, fostering an environment of clinical and service excellence.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in a patient/resident/client care setting, including at least 5 years of direct clinical service delivery across clinical areas such as primary health, community services, population health, health promotion, and illness prevention for diverse populations. Experience in acute inpatient, specialty care, and complex ambulatory settings, integrating community-based care modes like home and primary care to optimize aging, health restoration, and maintenance, and to deliver high-quality care in areas such as chronic disease, palliative care, mental health, rehabilitation, or long-term care.

Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant health discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification / Licensure / Registration

  • Active member in good standing of an appropriate regulatory body.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant professional regulatory requirements, legislated acts (e.g., Personal Health Information Act, Mental Health Act), workplace safety standards, collective agreements, and regional policies related to clinical care, administration, finance, and human resources. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work safely in a typical office environment, lift and carry items up to 10 kg (25 lbs.), prioritize tasks, handle interruptions, and dedicate time for strategic planning. Travel within the health organization may be required. A valid Class 5 Manitoba driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are necessary.
