The Manager GSE Fleet Reliability and Planning provides leadership and direction to a group of multi-functional work groups and locations in the areas of all ground support equipment types for effective planned maintenance activities and ultimate fleet reliabilities. Fleet responsibilities extend beyond the team of direct reports and reach into the Supply chains, Manufacturers, Engineering, Components, and maintenance programs in support of all business units within.

Accountabilities

1. Mandatory Regulatory requirements

  • Ensure the teams’ timely review and disposition of all equipment types for mandatory Safety, environmental, regulatory, and preplanned inspections.
  • Lead meetings related to PMI planning and reliability.
  • Ownership of GSE program maintenance requirements including administration of the fleet reliability

2. Fleet reliability & costs monitoring, analysis and reporting

  • Coordinate daily fleet calls, monthly Reliability Working Group meetings and quarterly presentations.
  • Ensure timely review and disposition of Service Bulletins
  • Review effectiveness of GSE maintenance program and proposed corrective actions.
  • Create and execute the strategy to enhance the effectiveness of multiple maintenance requirements.
  • Implement cost effective fleet improvements that are driven by emerging trends in operational disruptions (Out of Service, delays, cancelations), incident reports or risk assessment analysis.
  • Identify maintenance costs saving opportunities (workscope optimization, repairs, task / check interval, material savings, warranty recovery etc.)

3. Technical Support

  • Ensure team provides adequate 24 / 7 in support of ground equipment system issues to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Provide technical expertise to GSE internal teams such as, Line Maintenance, Cargo, CEQ and Airports in support of operational requirements and technical investigations.
  • Provide technical expertise to Vendor Management in the support of Ground Support Maintenance events.
  • Represent GSE as required for issues related to fleet with other AC branches (Cargo, SOC, Marketing, In-Flight, Flight Ops, Legal, Finance)
  • Ensure liaison with OEMs, Transport Canada and other external suppliers
  • Represent Air Canada in the industry in order to keep up to date with regulatory changes, latest technologies and skills as it relates to fleet.
  • Lead by being an effective communicator, setting clear and challenging expectations as well as encouraging and rewarding the team
  • Promote delegation development with team members.
  • Support the reporting requirements to key internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in aviation or aerospace industry
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction to a team of direct and indirect reports in a fast-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and experience dealing with people in customer and supplier relationships.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable safety, environmental and other regulatory requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Strong technical background of ground support equipment systems (M5) and operations
  • Must be familiar with Office software, primarily EXCEL
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
