Job summary

KPMG in Canada is seeking a Manager in their Government Solutions practice. You will leverage strong business acumen within a high-performing team to deliver client engagements across public sector clients, including government and Crown entities.

You will lead day-to-day execution, manage engagement schedules, and build trusted relationships with mid-level client contacts. A focus on data-informed decisions and stakeholder communication will be essential to success.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of work experience in management consulting, government or professional services.
  • Experience with federal/provincial/municipal governments, Crown corporations or healthcare/public sector.
  • University degree in business, economics, finance or equivalent.
  • Comfortable with both conceptual and hands-on work and growth-focused leadership.
  • Experience with data, deriving insights and briefing senior leaders.
  • Experience with financial analysis, data modelling, and process improvement.

  • Support timely engagement management and on-time, on-budget delivery of client deliverables.
  • Provide expertise across client activities and lead client engagements.

KPMG’s Government Solutions practice helps federal, provincial and municipal governments, Crown corporations, agencies, healthcare organizations and other public sector clients design and deliver practical improvements. Our work spans enterprise transformation, target operating model design, process optimization, service delivery improvement, program and policy work, and large-scale business and digital change.

What you will do

As a Manager in our Government Solutions practice, you will use your strong business acumen and be a key member of a high performing team. You’ll be learning from some of the best in the industry and growing your personal skillset by:

  • Supporting timely engagement management and ensuring on-time, at-budget high quality delivery of client deliverables
  • Providing expertise and knowledge for full spectrum of client-related business activities and projects, while taking accountability for leading client engagements
  • Supporting client pursuits and proposal development with support from Senior Leadership, and working with KPMG leaders to develop thought leadership, white papers and other intellectual assets
  • Leveraging your strong understanding and experience across operational excellence, process review improvement and performing quantitative analysis / modelling.
  • Growing your reputation as a trusted advisor and champion within the government community
  • Growing your coaching and feedback skills through providing day-to-day guidance and mentoring to your team and supporting our Open Feedback culture
  • Developing trusted client relationships and managing engagement teams of up to 3-5 practitioners. You will facilitate client workshops and conduct interviews with client personnel as well as maintain our very high-quality standards, meeting and exceeding client expectations.
What you bring to the role
  • 5-10 years of work experience in a comparable capacity in management consulting, government and/or professional services.
  • Experience working with federal, provincial, territorial or municipal governments, Crown corporations, agencies, healthcare, education, social services or other public sector organizations.
  • University degree in business, economics, finance or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Comfortable working at both the conceptual and the hands-on level with big picture thinking and growth-oriented leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with data, inferring insights from data and briefing senior leaders on insights and recommendations.
  • Experience with financial analysis, data modelling, securing expense efficiencies and/or process mapping / re-engineering.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with and building relationships within the government sector.
  • Commitment to support proposals and/or lead efforts to secure new business / market opportunities.
  • Project management and execution skills including: leading day-to-day execution, team management and managing project schedule, risks and timelines.
  • Strong at cultivating client relationships at mid-levels – Managers, Senior Managers and Directors.
  • You understand that at times, business needs arise, and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal workday or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job. Likewise, people need extra time to devote to personal matters, and our approach to flexibility provides for this.
Qualifications and experience considered assets
  • Experience with policy analysis, program review or evaluation, jurisdictional scans, strategic planning, business cases, operating model design, process mapping, organizational design, service design, stakeholder engagement, performance measurement or implementation planning.
  • Experience supporting transformation initiatives, including requirements gathering, testing, training, change management, communications or deployment activities.
  • Understanding of government decision-making, public accountability, governance, procurement or regulatory environments.
  • Professional certification or related learning in project management, business analysis, change management, Lean Six Sigma, public administration or a relevant field.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French. Government of Canada BBB language proficiency or higher is considered an asset.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, depending on client and engagement requirements.
