Job Description:

About the role:

Reporting to the AVP, Global Partnerships, the Manager will play a key role in the development and execution of philanthropic activations with our key philanthropic charitable partners. Collaborating across numerous internal stakeholder teams, including regional marketing teams, lines of business, communications, HR and legal, as well as external third-party charities, the incumbent will help ensure these activations highlight Sun Life’s community impact, raise awareness of our philanthropic partnerships, change perceptions of the brand, and engage employees.

What will you do?
  • Responsible for activating and leveraging philanthropic investments. Includes event creation and management, development of marketing materials, and in working with internal and external partners, advertising, communications, content creation and social/digital media.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director, Global Partnerships, to contribute to and develop annual activation plans.
  • Drafts reports and presentations for key stakeholders to provide details of proposed activation strategy and plans, in addition to summary reporting to demonstrate resulting impact.
  • Functions as the lead day‑to‑day Sun Life representative with philanthropic partners and leads the management of contractual rights and benefits to ensure effective utilization.
  • Ensures philanthropic partners are adhering to an established Sun Life social impact measurement framework and collects data to support overarching research and analytics goals.
  • Work with external agencies as required to support philanthropic activations.
  • Acts a consultant for other marketing areas (BG, BU and Corporate) requiring guidance on executions of philanthropic activations.
  • Collaborates across numerous internal stakeholder teams, including regional marketing teams, lines of business and communications to deliver activation programs. Primarily accountable for execution within Canada.
  • Manages philanthropic activation budget in accordance with forecasts.
  • Operates at an Enterprise‑wide level and serves as a subject matter expert across Sun Life.
What do you need to succeed?
  • 5+ years experience of successful management/implementation of Marketing, Philanthropy and/or Sponsorship campaigns and programs.
  • University degree, preferably with Marketing, Philanthropy, Sponsorship.
  • Experience developing content to demonstrate the impact of community programming.
  • Demonstrates ability to make decisions within scope and solve problems.
  • Ability to influence positive outcomes with senior leaders and external partners.
  • Ability to create and deliver unique and engaging activations to help achieve established brand and business goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deliverables within a cross‑functional team environment that can include many reporting levels inclusive of senior management and varying skills/ competencies.
  • High level of accuracy and thoroughness to ensure work delivered correctly and is of high quality.
  • Strong organizational skills with proficient knowledge of in person and virtual event planning and execution, project management and cause marketing.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
