lululemon in Vancouver, BC is seeking a Manager, Global Merchandising – Men’s Athletic to lead a team of global merchants and shape seasonal strategies. You will define class strategies based on a 2–3 year outlook and create global product roadmaps in collaboration with Design, Brand and Creative partners.

The role requires extensive merchandising experience, strong leadership, and the ability to present direction to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • BA/degree or equivalent required.
  • 8+ years of experience in people management and merchandising.
  • Proven ability to coach and lead a team.
  • Experience with global brands preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel mastery; merchandising software experience; Adobe Illustrator preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills across multiple data points.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of Global Merchants reporting to the Manager.
  • Inspire, coach and develop team members to meet business priorities.
  • Support employee development plans and performance management.
  • Define class strategies based on 2–3 year product strategy.
  • Create global seasonal merchandise strategies and roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with Brand and Creative on Global Product strategies.
  • Brief raw materials and lead assortment architecture with Design/Product Development.
  • Present seasonal direction, roadmap, and storytelling to Regional Buyers and partners.
  • Align activity strategies with Design (carryover, seasonal newness, franchise management).
  • Build a strategic vision for franchises and product lifecycle.
  • Sign off on sketches and prototypes against long-term category strategy.
  • Lead in-depth consumer and competitive insights to guide ranges.
  • Ensure colour flow supports clear, profitable storytelling.
  • Meet seasonal KPIs/targets.

  • The candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of Global Merchants who report directly to the Manager.
  • The candidate will be responsible for inspiring, coaching and guiding team members to develop their skills and deliver on business priorities.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting employee development plans and performance management.
  • The candidate will be responsible for defining class strategies based on the short-range product strategy (2-3 years) and creating global seasonal merchandise strategies and a roadmap for the season.
  • The candidate will work with Brand and Creative partners to create Global Product strategies.
  • The candidate will be responsible for briefing raw materials.
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading their team in building the architecture of the assortment in collaboration with the Design and Product Development team.
  • The candidate will be responsible for creating and delivering global merchandising strategies to their Regional teams.
  • The candidate will be responsible for presenting the direction for the season, including the roadmap, story-telling/campaigns, direction of product flow and colour, to Regional Buyers and key cross-functional partners for their business category.
  • The candidate will be responsible for enrolling and aligning on activity strategies with Design, including carryover, seasonal newness, franchise management and slot investments.
  • The candidate will be responsible for building a strategic vision for franchises and the product lifecycle.
  • The candidate will be responsible for signing off on sketches and protos against the long-term category strategy.
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading the team in gaining in-depth consumer and competitive insights.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the colour flow for the global assortment to ensure clear, consistent and profitable storytelling.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that seasonal KPIs/targets are met.
Job Requirements
  • The candidate must have a BA, BSc, BBA, BComm, or equivalent qualification, with a specialization in Retail Management considered an asset.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of experience combining people management and Merchandising experience.
  • The candidate must demonstrate a proven ability to coach, mentor and lead a team.
  • The candidate must have an understanding of and experience working for a Global Brand.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, demonstrate mastery in Excel, and have proficiency in Merchandising Software, with experience in Adobe Illustrator preferred.
  • The candidate must have strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret multiple data points across numerous channels and market segments.
  • The candidate must demonstrate financial acumen and an understanding of Retail Math.
  • The candidate must have the ability to balance analytical and creative tasks.
  • The candidate must be able to interpret and apply financial insights on current business performance and leverage insights to guide and inform future range plans.
  • The candidate must have an acute eye for product and colour trends.
  • The candidate must be aware of macro lifestyle and fashion trends and how these relate to the active and wellness industry.
  • The candidate must have a strong understanding of the global market place, major shifts in trend and activity.
  • The candidate must be able to apply, interpret and synthesize marketplace data to create a global assortment.
  • The candidate must be able to enroll and clearly communicate vision, class strategy and feedback to key partners.
  • The candidate must have the ability to lead and influence creative partners.
  • The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to present to Senior Leadership.
  • The candidate must be able to multi task, pivot, prioritize competing tasks and operate in a fast paced environment.
  • The candidate must be highly organized and have a keen eye for detail.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently to make sound business decisions.
