Job Purpose:

We are seeking a manager to develop new customer offerings that support customers' economic, sustainability, and reliability goals related to energy and flexibility markets. This role involves managing and developing customer programs that can be integrated into customer operations, supporting Hydro One's goal of becoming a trusted energy advisor, especially in flexibility markets.

General Accountabilities:

The manager will:

  • Manage planning, organizing, and scheduling activities for customer projects, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and performance expectations to staff, including HR issues such as hiring, discipline, and performance management.
  • Develop new program concepts based on research and customer needs.
  • Manage staff in pilot projects and full-scale program offerings, including criteria, incentives, vendors, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with external partners for participation, cost-sharing, and information sharing.
  • Develop vendor lists, negotiate with third parties, and ensure cost-effective program opportunities.
  • Oversee marketing material development for customers and trade allies.
  • Lead the preparation of business plans, business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain management reporting, tracking, and evaluation systems.
  • Act as an internal consultant for strategic initiatives and coordinate cross-business projects.
  • Manage various customer programs, including residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, and social housing sectors, with a focus on demand management, conservation, and efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor a team, assess staff capabilities, conduct performance reviews, and foster a diverse, safe, and inclusive work environment.

Selection Criteria:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience, including business development.
  • Strong analytical skills, including financial and strategic modeling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across units and stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of the energy sector and customer expectations regarding electricity and flexibility markets.
