Job summary

Scotiabank is hiring a Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (Group Treasury) in Toronto to lead monthly/quarterly reporting, forecast cycles, and balance sheet analysis. You will coordinate inputs from multiple teams, ensure accuracy, and drive improvements in forecasting tools and reporting processes.

Group Treasury Finance, within Global Finance, is a business support function that provides financial planning, management reporting, forecasting, and analytical support to Group Treasury and Executive Management. The team supports Treasury activities, including Funding, Balance Sheet Management, Investments, and Liquidity portfolios. Reporting to the Director, Group Treasury FP&A, the Manager will be responsible for consolidating and preparing monthly and quarterly management reporting, business line entries, periodic forecast updates, annual profit planning, and Balance Sheet and P&L analysis. This role will also review Equity transactions, perform business line adjustments related to Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), maintain documentation, and liaise with key stakeholders to support accurate financial reporting and executive decision-making.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Lead the consolidation and preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports for Group Treasury, ensuring completeness, accuracy, consistency of messaging, and adherence to reporting timelines.
  • Analyze Balance Sheet and P&L results monthly for reasonableness and investigate variances and trends.
  • Identify, monitor, and measure key business drivers impacting financial performance and forecast results.
  • Coordinate and support the monthly forecast process for Group Treasury, including collecting, validating, consolidating, and analyzing business assumptions and financial results.
  • Prepare monthly forecast submissions and analyze variances against forecast, plan, and prior periods.
  • Support the Annual Profit Plan process.
  • Develop and maintain forecasting models and management reporting tools to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
  • Review and validate Equity transactions in GLOSS, liaising with Front Office, Product Control, and GWO to resolve transaction, valuation, accounting, and reporting issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform business line adjustments related to Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), ensuring accurate allocation and reporting of FTP results.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including the preparation and posting of ad-hoc journal entries under tight deadlines.
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation to support effective knowledge transfer, governance, and audit requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, and operational efficiency.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in Treasury Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Product Control, Accounting, or a related finance function.
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation, such as CPA or equivalent, is considered an asset.
  • Strong PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills, including complex formulas, PivotTables, financial modelling, automation, and analysis of large datasets.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide meaningful business insights.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, Balance Sheet analysis, and P&L reporting.
  • Knowledge of Treasury products, funding, investments, liquidity management, balance sheet management, swaps, and Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) is an asset.
  • Experience creating and maintaining process documentation, procedures, and control documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Wallstreet, Peak (K2), GLOSS, EGL, OBI, Smart View, Hyperion, or similar financial and reporting systems is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across several teams.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
