Purpose of the Role
The Manager FP&A Corporate Support plays a pivotal role in providing strategic business partnership support to the core SG&A functions. This includes Information Technology, Finance, Strategy & Products Innovation, Legal, and Human Resources. Utilizing analytics and financial modeling, the Manager Finance provides data-driven insights to identify opportunities for improving bottom-line margins, and optimizing costs for strategic initiatives and national support functions.
The role involves making recommendations to enhance business performance through vendor contracting processes. Additionally, the Manager Finance is responsible for conducting monthly business unit performance reviews, managing the annual budget and forecast updates, and creating financial models and business cases to support current and future strategic initiatives. This position will supervise 1 senior financial analyst to ensure comprehensive support for these functions.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Monthly Business Unit Performance Reviews
- Collaborate with Corporate Functions to establish a robust partnership and framework for analyzing and communicating the results of these strategies and business units on a monthly basis. This framework will encompass:
- Traditional Variance Analysis: Assessing deviations from budgeted figures
- Performance Monitoring: Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics where applicable
- Progress Tracking: Monitoring the achievement and course corrections of initiatives
- This comprehensive approach ensures that the business can effectively measure, understand, and respond to performance outcomes and strategic initiatives
- Present analysis findings in a compelling narrative format to support senior management reviews. This involves crafting detailed and insightful explanations that highlight key variances, their causes, and implications, ensuring that the information is both understandable and actionable for senior leadership
- Provide leadership to team of one (1) Senior Financial Analyst, manage the performance to ensure goals and objectives are met, daily mentorship and support development of all team members
Planning and Forecasting
- The Manager FP&A Corporate Support is responsible for leading the planning and forecasting processes for all Corporate Functions. Key responsibilities include:
- Annual Budget Development: Oversee the creation of the annual budget, ensuring it aligns with strategic goals and stakeholder expectations
- Forecast Updates: Manage the "year-to-go" forecast updates at least three times per year to reflect current business conditions and projections
- Stakeholder Alignment: Ensure all plans are aligned across stakeholder groups to maintain consistency and coherence in financial planning and execution
- Reporting: Support development of an insightful management reporting package with use of storytelling techniques to contextualize data, making it relatable and actionable
Analytics and Business Partnerships
- Analytical Frameworks and Tools: Develop analytical frameworks and tools to assist Corporate Functions in making data-driven decisions. This includes activities such as capital investments, vendors RFP activities, contract negotiations, licensing, and other strategic initiatives
- Business Case Development: Leverage a detailed financial model to enable the development and documentation of business cases, including capital requirements and investment returns/payback
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Provide ad hoc analysis as required to support corporate functions business decisions and strategic initiatives
Process Consolidation, Standardization, and Automation
- Identify, develop, and implement opportunities to consolidate, standardize, and automate processes within the team to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and overall performance
Ad Hoc Projects
- Perform ad hoc projects in support of the VP Commercial Finance and CFO, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to emerging needs and priorities
What You Bring To The Role
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Equivalent Experience in Accounting Designation, CPA and or MBA
- 5-8 years with 2-3 years of experience in leading teams
- Experience working in environments with a strong operational and regulatory focus, such as manufacturing or pharmaceuticals. This role must be able to accurately assess technology risks, issues, and solutions
- Deep understanding of finance processes and data requirements
- Exceptional capabilities in management and leadership presentations
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, Oracle Cloud, SAP, and EPM application suites (preferred)
- Experience working with tools like Power BI and Tableau
- Strong computer and reporting skills with advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word
