We are seeking a Manager – Field Service DGI to join our Field Service team. You will be responsible for managing the Digital Gear Inspection (DGI) business, ensuring the effective execution of non-destructive testing (NDT) services from both technical and commercial perspectives. Your role plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality inspection services such as Eddy Current Array, Rapid Scan Mill Shell Mapping, Girth Gear Cleaning, Motion Amplification, and other NDT technologies. In this position, you will report to the Director of Professional Services.

This position is mainly located in Montreal, and we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Some travel (up to 20%) may be required.

Team you belong to:

You will join a team of inspection and NDT specialists dedicated to delivering advanced digital inspection services to our customers. We collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Product Line, Engineering, and HSE, and external clients across various industries. Our team culture is safety-focused, responsive, and committed to continuous improvement. Team members are located across multiple regions.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage a team of field service representatives and coordinators to ensure high levels of customer service for new and existing clients.
  • Oversee field service activities including training, warranty evaluation, technical troubleshooting, and start-up/commissioning advisory services.
  • Ensure all onsite jobs are completed safely and foster a safety-oriented working culture.
  • Collaborate with the HSE team to develop safe work procedures, methodologies, and JHAs.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customer inquiries, sales teams, and technical issues at customer sites.
  • Support field technicians onsite with engineering and technical assistance; coordinate with internal stakeholders for additional support as needed.
  • Ensure service representatives are prepared for jobs, understand the scope, have the right equipment, and provide value-adding technical recommendations.
  • Responsible for the financial performance of the team, including orders, net sales, budget, cost reporting, utilization, and NPS.

Who you are:

  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Fluent in French (speaking, reading, and writing) is an asset.
  • Technical degree preferred, with mechanical or mining experience.
  • CAN/CGSB certification is an asset.
  • Proven experience leading teams in fast-paced, client-facing environments.
  • Strong understanding of Metso technology and best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of NDT, welding, metallurgy, and related standards.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and prints.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills under various working conditions.
  • Calm and steady under pressure, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of making quick, accurate decisions regarding technical and liability issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Professional, positive, and self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively with colleagues, customers, and contractors.
  • Well-organized with the ability to maintain accurate records and produce detailed technical reports.
  • Mechanical knowledge and understanding of Metso product applications.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time.
