The Opportunity

Reporting to the AVP, Facultative Reinsurance and Loss Control, the Manager, Facultative Reinsurance is responsible for a range of professional underwriting services for Farm Mutual Re in the areas of property and casualty reinsurance.

As the successful candidate, you will :

• Manage the day-to-day operations with the direct distribution segment of our facultative reinsurance program.
• Maintain inward reinsurance programs including underwriting services in the areas of property and casualty reinsurance.
• Provide guidance and performance coaching to a team of reinsurance underwriters
• Collaborate with our member companies, providing guidance and assistance for complex underwriting issues.
• Monitor our reinsurance portfolio in order to underwrite programs minimizing the impact of large claims and increase capacity.
• Analyze reinsurance contracts and determine whether to assume or decline.

Your Skills and Qualifications

• You have a bachelor’s degree or a combination of equivalent industry certification (i.e. CIP) and / or experience.
• You have a minimum of 7 years experience in facultative reinsurance underwriting and / or property, casualty, and auto underwriting; 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory leadership role.
• You have strong business partnering skills, experience working across business units / functions and collaboration in a team environment.
• You have strong analytical skills, assessing factors and developing innovative and practical solutions to achieve department goals.
