What is the Opportunity?

You will manage financial control responsibilities within the Wholesale Finance group, focusing on delivering timely, accurate, and reliable financial information. Your work will involve reporting and production related to RBC’s Net Investment, Cash Flow, and Fair Value hedge accounting programs, aiding the bank in mitigating interest rate and FX risks.

What will you do?

  1. Ensure accurate and complete Financial and Regulatory Reporting for Wholesale Finance results.
  2. Manage end-to-end hedging workflows and system operations.
  3. Prepare daily inception documentation, validate transaction details, perform effectiveness testing, and monitor counterparty credit risk.
  4. Identify and assist in system and process enhancement initiatives.
  5. Ensure new hedges, products, and transactions are properly captured in RBC Financial Reporting Systems, including the correct use of GLs and reporting lines.
  6. Maintain SOX and RBC EUC documentation compliance, including new controls and processes.
  7. Participate in ad-hoc projects as directed by the reporting manager.
  8. Ensure accurate external reporting, including financial statements, note disclosures, regulatory reporting, and management reports.
  9. Maintain the monthly review program to ensure financial controls and reconciliations are in place, adhering to global policies and procedures.
  10. Assist in investigating financial and regulatory reporting matters, stay updated on accounting developments, including hedge accounting changes.
  11. Support the implementation of new accounting standards, such as IBOR Reform, assessing impacts and executing implementation plans.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Knowledge of complex financial instruments and transactions, with a willingness to develop further.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Technical competence in relevant financial and statutory accounting standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, along with strong analytical and judgmental abilities.
  • Experience managing operations workflows and process improvements.
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
  • Strong team skills and work ethic.

Nice to have

  • Accounting designation or CFA.
  • Hedge accounting knowledge.
  • Knowledge of RBC’s reporting systems and infrastructure.
