Job Description :

A manager focused on the physical protection of our people, including senior leaders, through core accountabilities such as executive protection, event security management, and travel risk management. The manager will work with team members to develop a best-in-class Enhanced Personnel Protection program, including robust policies and procedures to support enterprise-level physical security requirements. Under the guidance of the Director of Enterprise Physical Risk, this position manages the overall program effectiveness to ensure comprehensive, high-quality service delivery. They will also consult on incident response and operational execution related to the protection of company assets and personnel.

This position will interact with senior management at the corporate and business group levels, as well as peers in Security Risk and Crisis Management, Corporate Real Estate, Human Resources, and other domains. External contacts include government security and law enforcement.

What you will do :
  1. Manage an enterprise-level Enhanced Personnel Protection program, including direct reports in Canada and the Philippines. This involves leading onsite security support, conducting risk assessments, and planning operations for events such as the Annual General Meeting, Investor Day, International Leaders Conferences, and Board of Director meetings.
  2. Oversee the organization's travel risk program, including vendor management, consulting on travel-related risks, and designing and implementing processes and controls.
  3. Develop and implement strategies and programs for the physical protection of people in the workplace and facilities owned or occupied by the company.
  4. Ensure team members, including the Incident Reporting Centre, have up-to-date information and risk assessments to support protection mandates.
  5. Identify, develop, implement, and maintain processes and practices to preserve life and safety, manage risks, respond to incidents/emergencies, and limit exposure and liability.
  6. Mentor and develop team members, encouraging knowledge and idea sharing through collaboration.
  7. Maintain awareness of industry and technology trends through organizations and networking.
  8. Build strong relationships with key business leaders to communicate value and ensure service quality.
  9. Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting cycles.
  10. Track and measure strategic initiatives financially.
What you need to succeed :
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a corporate or government security department of similar size and complexity.
  • Experience leading operational teams, including executive and personnel protection.
  • Superior knowledge of physical security and life safety legislation, principles, protocols, practices, and industry standards.
  • Understanding of physical security systems (e.g., access control, CCTV, security lighting, intrusion detection).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organization, strategic thinking, leadership, and planning skills.
  • Ability to lead during tense situations, including crises and emergencies.
  • Capacity to work with senior leaders, focusing on business perspectives and translating security concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Sensitivity to ethics, diversity, equity, and harassment issues.
  • Strong consulting and collaboration skills.
  • Self-starter, strategic thinker, negotiator, and consensus builder.

  • Active engagement in professional associations such as ASIS and relevant certifications like CPP, PSP, CISSP, CISM.

Other Requirements :
  • Travel approximately 20% between company locations and for event security.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life prior to starting.

The salary range is from $78,000 to $128,000, depending on location and other factors. Incentive plans are discretionary and based on individual and company performance, including sales incentives where applicable.
