Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Employee Health and Wellness is responsible for providing leadership and direction for MHNL's Health and Wellness department, including occupational and non-occupational workplace health and its programs, and directly manages the Occupational/Disability Management team. The Manager will work with MHNL's Leadership teams and the Safety Management team to ensure health standards are met to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all employees. The Manager will promote safe and healthy work practices, ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative and community health requirements, and develop and oversee health and wellness programs and processes, including the internal quality system to reduce short and long-term disability claims, on-the-job injury claims, and absenteeism. The Lead, Health and Wellness will monitor and report key performance indicators and support continuous improvement through policy, procedures and programs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor level minimum (master's an asset) in health professions, human resources, business, public administration or related field.
  • Minimum seven (7) years' experience in Occupational Health, healthcare management or related field, including leadership roles with a concentration in one or more of the following: Occupational Health, Health area Management, Insurance/Disability Case Management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years leadership experience with a proven track record in people and performance management.
  • Clinical experience in the chosen field (minimum 5 years front-line service delivery) is an asset.
  • Previous Occupational Health experience considered a strong asset.
  • Active license as a clinician or professional designation with the applicable provincial body, in good standing and compliant with laws pertaining to practice.
  • Experience in a multi-union environment; interpretation of collective agreements; experience with JOHS Committees and unions would be an asset.
  • Advanced certification related to occupational health and wellness or willingness to obtain a related designation is considered an asset.
  • Hands-on experience and ongoing professional development in health & wellness are considered an asset.
  • Project management/change management experience, ideally related to process improvement of complex systems.
