Job summary

BMO is seeking a Manager, EARS, to lead the BI platform initiatives and drive strategic decision-making through analytics and reporting. You will translate business needs into technical specs, oversee release orchestration, and ensure data integrity and governance across the EARS platform.

You will collaborate with Business, Strategy, Finance and Technology teams, deliver new capabilities, and provide training for self-serve analytics while balancing enterprise-wide priorities and risk controls.

Qualifications

  • Foundational: Technical design optimization, decision making, systems thinking.
  • Intermediate: Data visualization, data storytelling, illustration, creative thinking, problem solving, verbal & written communication, collaboration & team skills, analytical skills, data-driven decision making.
  • Advanced: Insights design, requirements gathering, ETL development, 5–7 years of relevant experience, and a related degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Designs dashboard solutions with data extraction, cleaning and visualization.
  • Delivers insights, reporting and visualisation; implements analytics solutions.
  • Improves data visualization through trend analysis and best practices.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to improve usability and presentation of analytics.
  • Translates business needs into technical specifications for development teams.
  • Develops visualizations for large data sets for executive decision making.
  • Documents data flow, systems and processes for governance and design improvements.
  • Develops tools and delivers training for reporting tools and self-serve analytics.

The Manager, EARS, plays a critical role in maximizing the value of the EARS Business Intelligence Platform by leading key initiatives that drive efficient strategic decision-making across the organization. Working closely with Business, Strategy, Finance, and Technology teams, this role oversees specific end-to-end operations of this business intelligence solution through to the development of analytical products and insight generation. The Manager leads key platform initiatives, including the delivery of new capabilities, release orchestration, and continuous process improvement, while ensuring strong governance, data integrity, and effective controls. The role also serves as a bridge between business and development teams, translating business requirements into clear technical specifications and delivery plans that enable development teams to efficiently build high-quality, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Designs dashboard solutions ensuring the most appropriate data extraction, data cleaning and data visualisation techniques.
  • Provides value through insights, reporting and data visualization techniques. Selects, configures and implements analytics solutions for consistency and repeatability.
  • Researches and applies continuous improvement in data visualization by identifying trends and patterns to transform raw data into actionable business insights.
  • Works with different teams, management and stakeholders to enhance the usability and aesthetic appeal of data analytics solutions deployed in the organization.
  • Translates business needs to technical specifications and evaluates existing data visualization systems to improve them.
  • Develops data visualizations of “large” amounts of data that facilitate the intuitive presentation of data to decision makers.
  • Documents data flow, systems and processes to improve the design, implementation and management of business/group processes.
  • Develops tools and delivers training programs for use of reporting tools and self-serve analytics by non-analytical end users; may include delivery of training to audiences.
  • Focus is to EARS Business Intelligence Platform; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus as required.
  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Salary

$70,000.00 - $150,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
