The City of Nanaimo is hiring a permanent full-time Manager, Development Engineering. This role reports to the Director, Planning & Development and leads the Development Engineering Section, guiding reviews of development proposals and complex engineering matters.

The incumbent will manage staff, coordinate with other departments, and ensure compliance with professional standards. The position includes a competitive benefits package and relocation assistance where applicable.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years related experience, including management/supervisory.
• Eligibility for Membership of the APEGS BC.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Manager, Development Engineering. Reporting to the Director, Planning & Development, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, organizing, direction, and control of the Development Engineering Section of the Planning & Development Department. Considerable independent judgment is required in overseeing the review of development proposals. Only complex issues or matters of major impact are referred to the Director.

Requirements

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline from a recognized educational institution and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience, including proven management supervisory experience. Eligibility for Membership of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia is required. This role requires possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.

Salary & Benefits

This is a permanent full-time exempt position offering 35 hours of work per week, with the salary range of $142,276.91 to $151,358.42 as well as a competitive benefits package. Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful applicant.
