About The Role

You want to manage and participate in operationalization of a data governance program, implement tooling and run operations for data-related topics such as metadata, compliance, data access & protection, data classification and quality. We have a perfect opportunity for you!

As part of the Data Governance leadership team, the Manager of Data Management is responsible for overseeing the organization’s data management activities, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the strategic use of data across the company. This role involves leading a team of data professionals, implementing data governance tools, processes, and frameworks, and collaborating with various departments to optimize data management processes. Additionally, you will maintain and improve Data Room capabilities focusing on continuous user experience enhancements and ensuring a strong security posture.

What You'll Do Here

Data Management Operations:

  • Lead the design and solutioning to operationalize Data Governance processes and standards, including vendor tools implementation and in-house automation, working closely with DGO, architecture, and infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure proper operationalization and management of compliance processes devised by the Data Governance Office. Provide suggestions and recommendations to DG leadership.
  • Build and lead the execution of roadmaps to implement, define operational models, and roll out Data Governance tools for Data Catalog, Data Quality, Classification, and Anonymization.

Data Room Management

  • Build and lead the execution of Data Room improvement and re-design plans, working closely with Infrastructure and Architecture teams. The Data Room is a Citrix-based VDI for secure access to data for analytical purposes.
  • Automate and manage Data Room and Data Governance KPIs and dashboards.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and communications with Data Room users.

Leadership And Communication

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data professionals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making within the team.
  • Act as a liaison between data management and other departments, ensuring effective communication and alignment on data management projects.
  • Align roadmaps and delivery plans with IT and Security partners.
  • Provide support to the DGO with the integration of DG processes with other gating points in the organization.

Technology And Tools Evaluation

  • Evaluate and recommend data management tools, technologies, and platforms to enhance data capabilities.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data management.
  • Oversee key vendor partners and related data management/enablement tooling and processes.

What You Bring To The Table

  • University degree in a field of data management, computer sciences or equivalent.
  • 10 years of experience in data management / data governance / data protection / data security or related role with at least 5 years in leadership or managerial position.
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, data governance frameworks, and data quality standards.
  • Experience implementing vendor tools such as Data Catalog, Data Quality, Data Discovery.
  • Proficiency in Data Management technologies and tools available in the industry.
  • Knowledge of VDI technologies is an asset.
  • Solid experience in building roadmaps and roll out plans.
  • Technical Acumen to negotiate with IT partners and challenge the status quo.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and data security best practices.
  • Have worked in a company that has implemented or participated in a data governance program (an asset).
  • An outcome oriented, systems thinking approach to solving sophisticated and ambiguous problems to generate reusable solutions.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required (English and French) - Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
