The Manager of Data Engineering & Delivery is responsible for overseeing data projects and leading a team comprising BSAs, Data Analysts, and Data Engineers. You will collaborate with business units, EPMO, IT leadership, and partners to identify needs and deliver new data solutions using agile and waterfall methodologies.

- Managing scope, design, build, and deployment of data projects such as EDLH Datamarts, data warehouses, Data Lakes, and Data Stores.
- Delivering data solutions aligned with the data strategy and transformation initiatives.
- Balancing data delivery with ongoing initiatives to support IT/EPMO portfolios.
- Evaluating development proposals and advising on technical impact, feasibility, and effort.
- Leading data engineering efforts to implement solutions designed by architects and solution designers.
- Establishing and maintaining data engineering standards and proactively improving processes.
- Ensuring quality and timely delivery of ETL/ELT code for data initiatives.
- Implementing best practices for code management using Azure DevOps.
- Managing project documentation, including mappings, designs, schedules, and SLAs.
- Collaborating across teams to ensure smooth progress and unblock issues.
- Managing vendor teams in onsite/offshore models for data projects.
- Estimating technical efforts with solution architects and designers.
- Understanding enterprise data warehouse architecture and data integration processes.
- Tracking sprint velocities and delivery metrics.
- Identifying and mitigating technical risks.
- Reporting project status to IT leadership.
- Facilitating knowledge transfer during project handovers.
- Researching and proposing new technologies to improve data engineering practices.
- Managing stakeholder relationships within IT and business units.
- Developing skills and adapting to new techniques for complex assignments.
- Leading staff evaluations, performance reviews, and career development discussions.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
If you have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Project management experience.
- Over 10 years of experience in IT systems, development, and operations.
- At least 6-8 years of supervisory or management experience, including leading BSA and Data Engineering teams.
- Experience executing data ingestion, integration, marts, and warehouse projects.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, especially Claims Processing, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and Policy Generation, is a plus.
- Experience with Application Lifecycle Management tools, especially Azure DevOps.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to independently implement business requirements.
- Strong knowledge of modern application architecture practices like TDD, CI, version control, and design patterns.
