The data intelligence and engineering team helps organizations to utilize data by supporting data-informed decision-making with the development and implementation of advanced solutions that fully use structured and unstructured data, in complex technical environment.


What you will do

The successful candidate will take part in various business intelligence and data engineering mandates using Snowflake technology, which could involve assessing current practices, as well as developing a business intelligence and data engineering strategy, roadmaps, dashboards and performance indicators, devising and validating data models, and analyzing data to support timely decision-making, etc. The candidate must have more than 6+ years of experience in IT. This role is for a Snowflake Data Specialist with strong experience in design/data modeling/development & performance tuning.

The successful candidate will have a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Support the design and implementation of Snowflake data architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain data models, data warehouses, and data lakes on Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and develop data solutions.
  • Design, build and test end to end data pipeline including data ingestion (streaming, events, and batch), data integration, data curation.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable data pipelines and ETL processes on cloud-based infrastructure using Azure, Snowflake, DBT, Airflow, Cosmos DB.
  • Define and implement automation of jobs and testing.
  • Optimize data pipelines to support workloads and use cases.
  • Support mission critical applications and near real time data needs from the data platform.
  • Address data issues, environment issues, performing impact analysis, root cause analysis, corrective, adaptive and perfective maintenance.
  • Implement data models, transformations, and schema designs to support analytical and reporting needs.
  • Optimize and tune Snowflake performance, including query optimization, resource management, and scaling strategies.
  • Present our Snowflake service offerings and develop new service offerings on the platform.
  • Grow the expertise of our regional Snow Squad with training and certification plans.

What you bring to the role

  • University degree in computer science, business intelligence, information architecture, information science, business administration or another related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant business intelligence experience.
  • 4+ years of experience on Snowflake development including Snowpipes, Snowconvert, Snowshare, Task, Streams, UDFs, Procedures and dynamic tables.
  • Experience in Databricks considered an asset.
  • Professional experience in the financial or insurance industry, considered an asset.
  • Experience in developing and using relational and dimensional models.
  • Good knowledge of SQL (window functions, subqueries, conditional tables, etc.)
  • Strong ability to convey complex information to different organizational levels and stakeholders with different levels of business intelligence maturity.
  • Knowledge of data pipeline development tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Luigi, dbt, stitch, etc.) considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of programming languages in a data pipeline development context (e.g., Java, C#, Python) considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing suites (AWS, Azure, GCP) considered an asset.
  • Snowflake and Databricks certifications considered an asset.
