Job description

The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is an independent, non-partisan think tank whose peer-reviewed research, foresight, and trusted analysis influence policymakers to innovate. With a global network of experts and contributors, CIGI addresses governance challenges and opportunities related to data and transformative technologies, including AI, impacting the economy, security, democracy, and societies. CIGI delivers independent, world-leading research to influence policy on issues at the intersection of transformative technologies and governance.

POSITION SUMMARY

CIGI seeks a dynamic and visionary Manager, Creative & Digital Production to lead our multidisciplinary creative team. This role involves translating CIGI’s research into compelling digital and visual content such as reports, interactive tools, data visualizations, multimedia assets, and more.

As the leader of the creative and digital production team, you will oversee designers, software developers, and multimedia producers, ensuring brand consistency, design excellence, and technical innovation across all platforms. You will play a key role in transforming how research is shared and understood within a collaborative, global thought leadership environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Brand Leadership: Oversee CIGI’s visual identity across all platforms, maintaining a strong, consistent brand presence. Develop and manage brand tools and style guides.
  • Creative Project Management: Lead multiple creative and digital projects, including the CIGI website, publications, and the “Policy Prompt” podcast.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a high-performing creative and technical team.
  • Data & Analytics: Monitor website and product analytics to inform improvements and report on engagement and impact to leadership.
  • Strategic Production: Work with researchers and leadership to align creative strategies with CIGI’s research priorities and dissemination goals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in digital media, graphic design, UX design, computer science, or a related field.
  • Design or project management certifications (RGD, GDC, PMP, CMA) are assets.
  • At least 7 years of experience in creative and digital production.
  • Experience in team leadership and project management.
  • Deep knowledge of design principles, UX/UI standards, and accessibility regulations (AODA, WCAG).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, web development (HTML/CSS, CMS), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker Studio).
  • Strong understanding of web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) for data-driven decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects with a focus on innovation and quality.

Note: This position is based at our CIGI Campus in Waterloo, Ontario, with a hybrid work environment requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
