Job description

The Cost Accounting Manager will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and reliable costing of trucks assembled at the plant. This role is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on all cost elements, materials, labour, and overhead, while developing and maintaining standard costs in Oracle ERP. The position will partner closely with the Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering teams to drive process improvements, enhance financial transparency, and support strategic decision-making. The cost accounting manager will also identify areas for process improvements within Oracle and coordinate with the IT team to have these implemented. He or she will ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies and internal controls, but also act as a business partner to plant leadership, providing insights into cost drivers and efficiency opportunities.

The compensation for this role will be commensurate based on education and/or experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Leads the cost accounting team through various aspects of month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Develops dashboards and financial reporting packages for executive and plant leadership.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for Oracle ERP (Fusion and EPM) in cost and inventory accounting.
  • Assists in the implementation of Oracle EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) within the plant, ensuring alignment with financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting requirements.
  • Leads end-to-end IT enhancements projects, ensuring that implementation aligns with best practices and that the team realizes benefits. The CAM will follow quarterly Oracle updates to ensure that new features are implemented.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams to optimize item structures and work definitions in Oracle, ensuring accurate and reliable standard costing for trucks.
  • Manages the development, maintenance, and accuracy of standard costs for raw materials, labour, and overhead.
  • Navigates and builds relationships with key stakeholders, including plant leadership and other departments across the company.
QUALIFICATIONS

What You'll Need For Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related fields. CPA and/or MBA preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 - 15 years of cost accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle ERP Cloud/Fusion and EPM strongly preferred).
  • Advanced Excel and experience building dashboards are a must.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, standard costing, and inventory valuation principles.
  • Proven track record of improving processes and implementing ERP/system enhancements.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing operations (preferably truck, automotive, or heavy equipment assembly).
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders to drive results.
  • The role requires mobility within work environments, use of office equipment, lifting up to 20 pounds, clear vision and hearing, effective communication skills, and occasional travel for meetings and training sessions.
