Compensation Details :

  • Mgr Actuarial Analysis : Salaries typically range from $127380 to $169838 annually based on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.

Location :

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment currently requiring employees to work in the office 3 days per week. (subject to change)
  • This role can be performed from EDCs headquarters in Ottawa.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

  • Team Overview :

    The Corporate Actuarial team is responsible for activities such as valuation of insurance contracts determination of capital requirements and forecasting insurance liabilities across EDCs insurance portfolios which primarily includes Credit Insurance and International Trade Guarantees. The Risk Quantification Team focuses on developing and continually enhancing portfolio management tools and applications for the quantifying monitoring managing and reporting all financial risks (credit insurance market investment and operational).

    What you will be doing :

    As Manager of EDCs Corporate Actuarial team you will apply your leadership and actuarial skills to lead and manage development and maintenance of actuarial models used in the financial reporting of EDCs insurance liabilities the determination of economic capital and stress testing activities. You will drive efficiency and governance improvements in our processes and tackle complex problems with your expertise.

  • Lead the quantification of EDCs insurance liabilities financial performance and economic capital for insurance contracts.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of actuarial models to enable actuarial analysis including forecasting and stress testing of EDCs insurance business.
  • Lead the teams model validation activities ensuring compliance with EDCs Model Risk Management policies.
  • Develop talent and drive results by motivating people to act and support the growth of all members of the team.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and propose solutions using actuarial statistical and data science techniques.
  • What we are looking for :

  • Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics.
  • Minimum Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in actuarial analysis and risk management.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting (IFRS 17) and actuarial principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French & English).

    Experience working in the financial services sector and / or financial Crown corporation environment.
