About the Role:

The Manager, Contracts will report to the Senior Manager Contracts – Brands Healthcare and Corporate Services (BHCS) and will be responsible for drafting and negotiating procurement contracts for Goods not for Resale, ensuring they reflect negotiated outcomes and comply with Loblaw's policies. This role involves working with Contracts Managers, Category Managers, Analysts, Business Stakeholders, subject matter experts (Privacy, IT Security, Audit), and the Legal department to ensure contract terms align with Loblaw’s strategic objectives.

Accountabilities:
  • Collaborate with Legal and other stakeholders to draft and finalize agreements (e.g., Master Agreements, SaaS, General Procurement), complex Statements of Work, and Ordering Documents of medium to high complexity, applying knowledge of contract law, company policies, and feedback.
  • Review and improve existing supplier contracts, assist with inquiries related to contracting strategy and contract provisions.
  • Develop contract summaries for senior executives and ensure proper contract filing and compliance.
  • Verify that legal terms in contracts meet procurement and legal requirements, policies, and maximize value for Loblaw.
  • Analyze post-contractual obligations and explore restructuring existing contracts for additional benefits.
  • Support stakeholders with operational, process, and technical questions regarding procurement tools.
  • Provide support for data errors, change management, and training related to contract management tools.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as opening, publishing contracts, and responding to contract-related inquiries.
  • Assess current procurement tools and processes, offering recommendations for improvement.

  • Knowledge of Business & Procurement processes
  • Experience in procurement contract drafting and negotiation
  • Understanding of procurement and legal systems, especially contract law
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
Role Requirements:
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in drafting and negotiating contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, law, or related field
  • Understanding of procurement contract management and provisions
  • Experience in Contract Management, Negotiation, or as a Paralegal
  • Procurement and/or legal certification preferred
  • Stakeholder Management experience preferred
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with contract databases and tools like DocuSign, SAP Ariba, Fieldglass, Jaggaer is a plus
