Responsibilities

  • Build and operationalize the Constraints Governance Framework, including processes, controls, standards, and governance practices for investment restrictions.
  • Act as SME on governance processes, workflows, and controls across the constraint lifecycle.
  • Translate constraint requirements into clear processes, controls, workflows, and operational requirements with cross-functional teams.
  • Establish governance workflows for intake, interpretation, approval, coding, testing, implementation, and review of constraints.
  • Identify inefficiencies and lead initiatives to simplify, standardize, and automate activities.
  • Design and support workflow and automation solutions using Power Automate and other technologies to improve efficiency and controls.
  • Gather requirements, evaluate solutions, and work with tech teams to implement enhancements.
  • Coordinate testing, implementation, and change management for new processes and governance controls.
  • Create reporting solutions with Power BI to view KPIs and operational metrics across Constraints Governance.
  • Develop governance documentation and process maps to promote consistency and scalability.
  • Support strategic initiatives across Portfolio Compliance and Operations Risk.

Manager, Constraints Governance & Process Engineering

Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group ("CC&L FG") is looking for a Manager, Constraints Governance & Process Engineering to help build and scale a newly established capability within the Portfolio Compliance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing the firm's Constraints Governance Framework and improving the processes, controls, workflows, and technology that support the lifecycle of investment restrictions across the organization. Working closely with members of the team and business stakeholders, you will help design scalable governance processes and automation solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, and control.

What You Will Do:
  • Help build and operationalize the firm's Constraints Governance Framework, including the processes, controls, standards, and governance practices used to manage investment restrictions across their lifecycle.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the investment constraint lifecycle and act as a subject matter expert on its governance processes, workflows, and controls.
  • Partner with Portfolio Compliance, Front Office, Product, Legal, and Operations teams to translate investment constraint requirements into clear processes, controls, workflows, and operational requirements.
  • Establish and maintain governance workflows covering the intake, interpretation, approval, coding, testing, implementation, and ongoing review of investment constraints.
  • Identify inefficiencies, process gaps, and manual activities, and lead initiatives to simplify, standardize, and automate them.
  • Design and support the implementation of workflow and automation solutions using Power Automate and other technologies to improve operational efficiency and strengthen controls.
  • Gather business requirements, evaluate potential solutions, and work with technology teams to implement system and process enhancements.
  • Coordinate testing, implementation, and change management activities for new processes, technologies, and governance controls.
  • Design and implement reporting solutions using Power BI and the Microsoft Power Platform that provide visibility into key performance indicators, operational metrics, capacity management, and Constraints Governance activities, enabling data-driven decision making across the team.
  • Develop and maintain governance documentation, operating procedures, process maps, and supporting materials that promote consistency and scalability.
  • Support strategic initiatives across Portfolio Compliance and Operations Risk.
What You Bring:

5+ years of experience within an asset management environment, including Investment Operations, Portfolio Compliance, Operational Risk, Compliance Technology, Business Analysis, Process Improvement, or a related discipline.

Strong understanding of process design, workflow management, operational controls, and governance practices.

Understanding of investment management processes and the lifecycle of investment restrictions, compliance monitoring, or related governance activities.

Demonstrated experience leading process improvement, technology implementation, automation, or business transformation initiatives.

Experience designing or implementing workflow, automation, process management, or technology solutions to improve business operations and controls.

A continuous improvement mindset with a track record of identifying inefficiencies, simplifying processes, and implementing sustainable solutions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues and develop practical recommendations.

Ability to translate business needs into requirements and work effectively with both business and technology stakeholders.

Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build consensus across diverse groups.

Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.

Lean Six Sigma, PMP, CBAP, CFA, risk, compliance, or related professional designations are considered assets.

Experience with Charles River, workflow technologies, Microsoft Power Platform, AI-enabled tools, or similar business technologies is considered an asset.

Experience developing reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools, with the ability to translate business questions into meaningful management information

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $160,000. The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation. In addition, there is an annual performance bonus which contributes to the total compensation of this position. Further questions may be directed to the HR team during the interview process.
