Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families and communities,and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. This ministry supports Albertans through a person-centred, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families. The ministry also provides oversight for the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee.

The Seniors Strategic Planning Branch (within Seniors Division) promotes programs, policies, and initiatives to address social isolation, elder abuse, older workers, ageism, transportation needs, and aging well in community for older Albertans. In addition, the division is responsible for community-based seniors serving sector development, administering community grants, supporting collaboration with stakeholders, and providing input on cross-ministry policies and programs to support seniors from a government wide perspective.

Reporting to the Director, Community Partnerships and Programs, the Manager of Community Partnerships will be responsible for the team’s role in the development of multiple projects and work streams with cross-ministry, inter-provincial, and community-based partners. The team will foster social connectedness, civic engagement, and advancing system integration with areas such as health, housing and the disability sector.

The Manager of Community Partnerships will be responsible for collaborating and information-sharing across sector-partners and organizations. As part of the branch management team, the Manager participates in the planning and reporting for the branch. The Manager leads unit operations and works collaboratively with leaders across the branch and division to advance the goals and priorities of the division.

The Manager will:

  • Provide leadership for significant provincial program and policy initiatives related to supporting seniros to age well in their communities.
  • Manage a team that is responsible for fostering networks in the community and partnering with key stakeholders in the delivery of seniors services, evaluating reports and developing briefings and grant administration.
  • Set direction, review, and approve a variety of draft documents created by the team
  • Present integrated updates, briefings, and intelligence to senior and executive leaders and government officials accompanied by critical analysis
  • Promote collaboration, linkages, and information sharing across branch units and across departments to facilitate and harmonize resource utilization and alignment with GoA priorities (e.g., aligned policy directions).
  • Pro-actively participate with Healthy Aging Alberta in the co-development of provincial programs and work strategically to build a cohesive and coordinated civil sector.

Qualifications

University graduation in a related field plus 4 years of progressively responsible related managerial experience.


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education


Assets
Preference will be given to the candidate with the following assets and knowledge:

  • Graduate Degree
  • Demonstrable knowledge of key trends and issues related to seniors and the aging population across Alberta
  • Experience working with collective impact models and co-created approaches as paths to achieve common outcomes
  • Project Management experience or certification, such as PMP, etc.
  • Experience in a role that requires political acumen
  • Knowledge of strategic and business planning processes
  • Knowledge of principles and approaches related to human and financial resource management.
Notes

Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday

This position is located at the 44 Capital Boulevard building (10044 108 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 3S7)
