Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. We operate GO Transit, UP Express, and the PRESTO fare system. Our projects include expanding rapid transit such as GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit, and Toronto’s subway system, aiming to improve transportation. The Manager, Community Benefits oversees the Community Benefits & Supports Program, ensuring transit infrastructure projects meet local community needs and generate benefits like employment, training, and social procurement opportunities.

What will I be doing?
  1. Managing strategy implementation for the Community Benefits program.
  2. Supporting procurement processes as a subject matter expert.
  3. Ensuring activities align with principles of inclusiveness, accessibility, transparency, and collaboration.
  4. Providing strategic advice on social and economic benefits of infrastructure projects.
  5. Leading research on community benefits innovations and best practices.
  6. Preparing reports, briefings, and communications to highlight program impact.
  7. Resolving implementation issues with contractors, stakeholders, and communities.
  8. Coordinating and facilitating stakeholder meetings and advisory groups.
  9. Supporting communication and engagement strategies to promote program awareness.
  10. Building relationships with government, community partners, and stakeholders to promote opportunities and address concerns.
  11. Providing leadership, coaching, and performance management to team members.
  12. Monitoring performance objectives and implementing improvement plans.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  1. A degree in Community Development, Social Studies, Communications, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Progressive experience in community economic development, stakeholder relations, project management, or public policy.
  3. Understanding of the Community Benefits & Supports Program framework.
  4. Political acuity, diplomacy, and relationship-building skills.
  5. Strategic planning and project management abilities.
  6. Analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  7. Facilitation skills for collaborative problem-solving.
  8. Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
  9. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
