Job description

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Operations, the Manager, Commercial Operations will support the execution of the commercial insurance strategy in the middle market segment. The Manager, Commercial Operations will focus on supporting our service and sales team by creating operational efficiencies, maintaining employee engagement, managing workload among direct reports and providing coaching as opportunities arise. Also, the Manager will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on key service metrics to ensure adherence to service level agreements.

What You Will Do:

  • Ongoing guidance and coaching to direct reports in support of personal growth and professional development
  • Ensure availability of appropriate resources to the team to support success in their day-to-day objectives
  • Assist in problem solving and enhancement of technical expertise
  • Manage staffing to ensure adequate coverage is in place for absences and scheduled vacation within the team
  • Conduct quarterly employee performance meetings with direct reports to support their personal and departmental goals.
  • Monitor and provide direction to effectively manage workload to ensure consistent levels of client service are being met
  • Complete monthly statistical analysis and report on key metrics for the service team
  • Active involvement in the development and execution of strategic initiatives and projects as set out by the Management team
  • Identify and monitor service issues with carriers, including regular touch points to address and resolve
  • Arrange relevant education and training where needed
What You Will Bring:

  • RIBO license is required or ability to obtain RIBO license
  • 5 years’ minimum experience with progressive and/or broad commercial and technical knowledge
  • Prior leadership experience is an asset
  • Business acumen (strategic thinking, business knowledge, solution oriented)
  • Decision-making and disciplined execution (thoughtful decision-making, accountability)
  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Experience in a fast-paced working environment with a demonstrated ability to multitask and adjust priorities regularly
  • CAIB, CIP or CRM designation (or working towards designation) would be an asset
