Job summary

A leading cabinet manufacturing company in Winnipeg is seeking a Manager, Commercial Finance/Retail Stores. This key leadership role involves overseeing financial management for the commercial division, managing a team, and ensuring effective communication and financial reporting. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance and at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in operations or supply chain management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' financial experience with exposure to Operations or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience with financial reporting is desired.
  • Demonstrated history of increasing responsibility including supervision in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the retail stores financial team and personnel development.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including statements.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly business reviews for executives.
  • Define and monitor controls for effective financial management.

Job description

The Manager, Commercial Finance/Retail Stores, is a critical leadership position within the MasterBrand Finance team. This position is ultimately responsible for all aspects of financial management for the commercial division and business support for the Director of Finance. This position requires the ability to work effectively within a matrix organization, manage a team, handle multiple priorities in an efficient manner, and communicate effectively with executive management. The position requires a strong background in accounting and finance, and financial reporting.

Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Director, Business Finance.

Accountabilities
  • Responsible for direct management of the retail stores financial team, including personnel development, annual performance reviews, and ongoing communication.
  • Preparation and review of periodic financial reports including monthly and quarterly financial statements
  • Assist with preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly business reviews for company executives
  • Prepare and report quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
  • Accurate and timely completion of month end and quarterly functions including journal entries, calculations, summaries and various reporting
  • Work with the retail stores commercial team on various projects and initiatives to drive revenue and profitability for the Canada commercial channel
  • Define and monitor controls for effective financial management and support of the SOX effort.
  • Must adhere to all company and Health & Safety policies as indicated in the Associate Handbook and Standards of Business Conduct Handbook.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned at management’s discretion.
Characteristics & Attributes
  • Ability to prepare and communicate presentations at the executive level (effectively communicate up).
  • Knowledge and experience regarding financial reporting systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – the ability to take complex subject matter and package in a format that is clear and simple.
  • The ability to align priorities, organize resources and lead individuals / groups to drive results by overcoming obstacles and holding people accountable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross functional team.
Qualifications
Experience & Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance is required.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA and/or APICS (an asset).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ financial experience with significant exposure to Operations and/or Supply Chain Management and demonstrated history of increasing responsibility including supervision in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with financial reporting is desired
  • Experience with Friedman and Oracle an asset
