Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Digital Health, the Manager, Clinical Informatics and IT Applications is responsible for the support, maintenance, and upgrades of existing hospital clinical and business applications. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with IT leadership to support the digital health initiatives in the organization.

The Manager, Clinical Informatics and IT Applications will leverage information systems to support clinical practice and business operations. The Manager will oversee all clinical and business applications used within the organization that fall under the responsibility of IT and ensure timely issue resolution and ongoing maintenance of the systems.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead a team to support, maintain and upgrade existing clinical and business applications
  • Provide guidance and support to facilitate the implementation of clinical and business applications. This includes supporting the development of policies and procedures; supporting the design, implementation, and evaluation of information and communication systems; and collaborating with other departments on the integration security, privacy and reporting requirements
  • Lead the review, planning, implementation, and evaluation of technologies to continuously improve existing systems and introduce new technologies that support strategic initiatives
  • Manage incoming stakeholder requests to ensure alignment with other initiatives, prioritization as appropriate and strategic assignment of work amongst team members
  • Assess resource needs to achieve operational goals and assume responsibility for the efficient, effective use of those resources for progressing digital health and IT solutions in the organization.
  • Participate in financial/project planning in collaboration with other IT leadership
  • Collaborate with other members of the Technical Services and Data Management teams in Health Information Technology to maintain, manage, modify and monitor systems
  • Monitor work progress and staff performance
  • Provide expert level ongoing support through collaboration with colleagues, vendor product experts and third-party resources
  • Participate in initiatives to support change management within the primary departments impacted by the designated applications
  • Acts as a liaison to clinical leadership to coordinate and communicate projects and outcomes measurement
  • Support the ongoing use of existing systems through training, promotion, and communication

Qualifications

  • University degree in a related field, Master’s preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in healthcare environment, coupled with in-depth knowledge of IT systems and adult learning principles
  • Minimum of five (5) years management experience required
  • Preferred experience combination of clinical practice and information technology
  • Experience with in class training of IT systems
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of healthcare IT applications (ex. Nurse Call, RTLS, Meditech, etc.)
  • In-depth understanding of computer technology and usage in health care organizations, required
  • Experience with project management processes and tools
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and advances in the field of healthcare IT as well as new developments in hardware and software technology
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and the ability to develop effective working relationships, required
  • Demonstrated ability in project management, change management knowledge and experience, conceptual and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of clinical quality metrics and excellent analytical skill
