Job Summary

Reporting to the Administrator, the Manager, Clinical Excellence is responsible for leading clinical quality, resident safety, regulatory compliance, risk management, audit programs, and clinical continuous quality improvement initiatives across the home. Working collaboratively with operational leaders and interdisciplinary teams, the Manager monitors quality indicators, investigates clinical risks, leads audit and compliance activities, supports inspection readiness, and drives sustainable improvements in clinical practice and resident outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Quality & Governance
  • Leads clinical governance systems.
  • Monitor quality indicators, resident outcomes, and clinical performance measures.
  • Support evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop accountability frameworks and address quality concerns.
Resident Safety, Risk Management & Incident Oversight
  • Review incidents, complaints, critical incidents, and risk reports.
  • Lead investigations and root cause analyses for critical incidents and complaints.
  • Monitor corrective action plans and recurring trends.
  • Promote resident safety and risk reduction.
Daily Clinical Monitoring & Follow-Up
  • Review 24-hour nursing and clinical reports daily and identify clinical, safety, medication, infection control, staffing, documentation, and compliance concerns. Collaborate with Manager of Resident Care, Nurses in Charge/charge nurse to ensure timely follow-up and accountability.
Audit & Compliance Management
  • Coordinate documentation, care plan, medication, IPAC, falls, skin and wound, environmental and compliance audits.
  • Conduct InterRAI reliability reviews, mock inspections, and readiness assessments.
  • Monitor corrective action implementation and sustainability.
Regulatory Compliance & Inspection Readiness
  • Monitor compliance with legislation and organizational standards.
  • Coordinate inspection readiness activities and action plans.
  • Maintain compliance trackers and readiness tools.
Quality Analytics & Performance Monitoring
  • Analyze trends in incidents, complaints, resident outcomes, audits, and compliance findings. Present findings and recommendations to leadership and CQI committees.
Leadership Support & Capacity Building
  • Coach and support registered staff.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and change initiatives leveraging key change management principles.
  • Promote accountability and continuous learning.
Resident & Family Experience
  • Support resident-centred care initiatives.
  • Integrate resident and family feedback into quality improvement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with Healthcare Provider CPR Level C.
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree; Master of Nursing degree preferred.
  • Long Term Care experience at the nursing management level with a solid knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation, including the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, and InterRAI experience.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive healthcare leadership experience in quality improvement, risk management, compliance, audits, performance monitoring, and clinical coaching experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Point Click Care is preferred.
Working/ Employment Conditions
Working Condition
  • A flexible work schedule is required to respond to the needs of the home, requirement to work every third weekend.
  • Travel will be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation.

  • Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen, by the first day of employment.
  • Current (obtained within the past six (6) months) two-step tuberculosis test or Quanti-FERON-TB Gold plus test by the first day of employment.
