Join us as a full-time Manager, Clinical Applications.

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data and Clinical Information Management, the Manager, Clinical Applications, is responsible for leading a team that manages, maintains operations, provides training, oversees project implementations, and optimizes the Oracle Health Cerner system at MGH. You will collaborate with MGH stakeholders to identify opportunities for system enhancement and provide guidance on how Oracle Health Cerner can be customized and designed to support patient care delivery.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Team Leadership and Management
  • Lead a team of application support staff, including Clinical Informatics Specialists, Technical Specialists, Applications Specialists, Business Systems Analysts, Project Managers, and Trainers.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance, and manage staff schedules and workload prioritization.
  • Conduct regular staff performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture to drive excellence in healthcare IT service delivery.
  • Manage operating and capital budgets and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in team, programs, processes, and technology delivery.
  1. Application Management, Strategy, and Optimization
  • Coordinate data, functional, and technical decisions related to clinical system applications and databases.
  • Develop system and upgrade rollout strategies, including managing organizational change and providing staff training and support during project implementation.
  • Regularly assess and identify areas for improvement, collaborating with clinical professionals to optimize system performance, workflows, and user experience.
  • Develop policies, procedures, informatics standards, and change management strategies.
  • Assist in developing and executing the Information Management and Technology (IMT) Strategic Plan alongside senior leadership.
  1. Stakeholder Relationship Management
  • Create and maintain relationships with clinical/operations stakeholders at MGH and external partners, including other Ontario Oracle Health Cerner hospital teams, Ontario Health, and vendors.
  1. Vendor Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Oracle Health Cerner and partners.
  • Manage contract negotiations, renewals, issue resolution, and advocate for features aligned with hospital needs.

EDUCATION

  • Baccalaureate degree in a Clinical, Business, Health Informatics, Health Administration, or equivalent program.
  • Clinical background or experience in healthcare is an asset.

EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including operational management of clinical information systems, IT project management, and team management in healthcare or similar environments.
  • Experience with Cerner Millennium is an asset.
  • Proven track record in managing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in project and technology management, especially in complex multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage expectations, and oversee budgets, resources, and performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including some after-hours and weekends.
