Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years tax experience within a public accounting firm.
  • Completion of the CICA In-depth Tax program is an asset.
  • In-depth GST/HST Program Part 1 is a very strong asset.

Responsibilities

Job Description

In your new role as our Manager Canadian Corporate Tax Team,you will report to and work directly with and support the Senior Manager -Tax as well as work indirectly with the U.S. Tax team and other Finance team members. This job contributes to the overall global tax strategy to minimize worldwide taxes in a manner that is prudent under applicable laws while ensuring compliance with the financial reporting obligations. The job is supporting the income and sales tax compliance department. The Manager Tax and Controllership may also work with outside consultants and auditors as required.

Tax Entries/Remittances/Reconciliations/Audits

  • Supports the Senior Manager -Tax in all activities related to tax planning and compliance, cash repatriations, quarterly provisions, and is responsible for all monthly tax entries and remittances; Files all corporate income; sales and withholding tax returns for Sodexo Canada and its subsidiaries.
  • Prepares tax account reconciliations; explain variances; and assist in forecast and budgeting.
  • Assists in managing audits by Canadian sales and income tax authorities and in the year-end audit by company auditors.

Responsible for Tax Changes

  • Monitors and assists with implementing changes that impact the Company due to government tax policy changes especially in the application of sales taxes for Federal and all provinces.

Education and Training of Basic Sales Tax Knowledge

  • Supports the training and strengthening of basic sales tax knowledge for the business units and communicates impact of sales tax changes to the business. Updates the Canadian Sales Tax Manual as required.
Qualifications
  • Post Secondary education in Business (degree); 4 years post-secondary preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years tax experience within a public accounting firm.
  • Completion of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) In-depth Tax program, Parts 1 & 2 would be an asset.
  • Research and compliance skills are required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Taxprep; Caseware; OneSource; SAP; and other database applications would be an asset;
  • International, domestic corporate income tax and commodity sales tax knowledge, particularly in the MUSCH sector, would be an asset.
  • In-depth GST/HST Program Part 1 is a very strong asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and technical skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Detail oriented with proven ability to deliver outstanding results
  • English required. Bilingual (French) is an asset
