Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation at the Great Bear Resources mine site in Red Lake, Ontario seeks a Manager, Business Support to lead IT, Finance and Supply Chain functions, align resources, and drive efficiency. Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • 8-10 years of related experience in business support, finance, supply chain, or operations.
  • Experience mining, construction, or industrial environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams of managers/superintendents/supervisors.
  • Proven ability to lead across IT, finance, or supply chain disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Job description

The Manager, Business Support provides leadership and oversight of the site’s Business Support functions, including Information Technology, Finance and Supply Chain ensuring the effective utilization of personnel and resources. With a focus on operational performance, financial management, and coordination across these functions, the Manager will monitor and implement process improvements to maximize operational efficiency and productivity, while supporting Kinross, Great Bear safety standards, cost effectiveness, and alignment. The role is accountable for the performance, priorities, and results of the Business Support functions at Great Bear Resources mine site in Red Lake, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Act as a member of the senior management team to develop the overall Business Support strategy and operating plans for the department.
  • Work collaboratively with senior management and stakeholders to identify and analyze business requirements for other departments.
  • Identify gaps, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the functional leaders of the department – Information Technology, Finance/Site Controller and Supply Chain. Overseeing work primarily through managers and superintendents.
  • Oversee the delivery of information technology and operational technology services that support safe, reliable, and efficient site operations.
  • Oversee supply chain functions, including procurement, contracts, and warehousing, to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Develop, manage, and report on the department’s operating budget, forecasting resource needs and ensuring financial and operational objectives are met.
  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with Kinross, Great Bear standards and regulations.
  • Hold approval authority for invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports within delegated financial limits, and ensure related financial controls are applied.
  • Develop and implement expense management policies that are aligned with Kinross, Great Bear standards, ensuring site-wide compliance and clear communication with employees.
  • Coordinate with corporate finance teams on reporting, audits, and financial controls.
  • Lead the annual audit process, ensuring timelines are met, and all reporting is accurate and compliant with applicable regulatory and site requirements.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of managers and superintendents across the Business Support functions, providing coaching, performance management, and development.
  • Identify and resolve complex operational and business-support problems, escalating more complex or strategic matters to the General Manager, and influence senior site leaders on cross-functional decisions affecting the Business Support functions.
  • Act as a key liaison across site operations, finance, and supply chain functions.
  • Promote a strong understanding of financial policies, procedures, and guiding principles for employees on site.
  • Oversee vendor performance and cost management across the Business Support functions to ensure cost-effective and reliable service delivery.
  • Build the capability and bench strength of the Business Support team, including development and succession planning aligned with current and future operational needs.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, with 8-10 years of related experience in business support, finance, supply chain, or operations, including progressive leadership responsibility.

Experience mining, construction, or industrial environments is preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams through subordinate managers, superintendents, or supervisors.
  • Proven ability to lead across multiple disciplines, such as IT, finance or supply chain.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP systems (JDE, SAP, Omega365).

Work Conditions

This position is based in Red Lake, Ontario. Local candidates, or those willing to relocate, with relocation assistance, will be given priority for this position. The schedule for this position is 5X2.

Compensation and Total Rewards

The base salary for the Specialist, Sustainable Capital Projects (Housing) is $190,000.00 to $230,000.00 + Short Term Incentive, + Long Term Incentive, + Group Benefit Coverage.

The actual offer will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate's experience, capabilities, and potential impact, along with consideration of internal equity, team structure, and benchmark market data for similar positions.
