Job summary

CBC/Radio-Canada in Toronto is seeking a Manager, Business & Rights to negotiate and draft development and licensing agreements, assess budgets, and structure CBC's funding with independent producers. You will lead negotiations, ensure CBC's interests, and manage streamlined contracts while collaborating with Scripted and Unscripted teams.

A post-secondary education with formal legal training is preferred and CMPA knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or related experience; strong preference for formal legal training.
• Extensive knowledge of media forms, negotiation techniques, and funding rules across Canada.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft development and licensing agreements.
• Assess project budgets and financing structures for CBC and third parties.
• Recommend deal terms and secure approvals from senior directors.
• Create streamlined contracts that protect CBC's position across projects.
• Review third-party financing and funding agency agreements for compliance.
• Apply strategic thinking to funding applications and maximize CBC benefits.
• Collaborate with Scripted and Unscripted teams and independent producers.
• Authorize contract payments where required.
