Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director, Pre-Construction Services, the Manager/Senior Manager, Business Development, will lead the business development efforts for defined clients and market segments representing the BC District, within Bird Buildings West. They will lead the development and execution of key account and market plans, identify opportunities for the continued growth of the organization, and be accountable for achieving sales goals.

This position is based in the Richmond, BC office.

What You Will Be Working On

Leadership

  • Establish effective and open working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead business development, key account management, and marketing activities for the District within key accounts and market segments.

Business Development

  • Create opportunities for net new EBITDA by demonstrating the value proposition of the integration of the complete suite of services to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with BC leaders, Operations, and Pre-Construction teams to develop key account strategies supporting regional revenue and EBITDA targets.
  • Work with the pre-construction, estimating, and operations teams to achieve district goals.
  • Lead strategic priorities within key accounts and market segments, focusing on sales objectives.
  • Drive business growth through our integrated service offerings.
  • Develop market knowledge and a network of contacts within the Canadian marketplace.
  • Prospect for new clients using various methods such as industry events, networking, cold calling, and online services.
  • Coordinate with District leadership for client meetings and industry events, utilizing Bird's marketing materials.
  • Assist in converting prospects into opportunities through pre-qualification processes.
  • Participate in Business Development meetings, presenting market data and opportunities.
  • Develop and review strategies to improve market capture, profitability, and position.
  • Manage Business Development processes as per the Project Delivery Framework.
  • Maintain accurate sales data within CRM systems.
  • Ensure high client satisfaction and retention in collaboration with Operations.

What We Are Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction industry in senior project or business development roles.
  • 5+ years in Business Development is an asset.
  • Professional presence, resourcefulness, integrity, sound judgment.
  • Extensive knowledge of the construction industry and proven ability to sell services within Canada.
  • Advanced knowledge of business development, sales, account management, and marketing principles.
  • Active involvement in industry associations and events.
  • Proficiency with CRM software.
  • Strong results orientation, influencing skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
