As a Manager, BSAA- Personal lines a typical day might include:
- Collaborating with the HR recruitment team, maintains, develops, and attracts skilled staff to the Personal Insurance team
- Assessing skill level and knowledge of the Broking Services and Account Administration team and, in conjunction with other department leaders, oversees development and delivery of training curricula and programs
- Ensuring that administration work is completed by staff in an accurate, timely, and effective manner. This includes following up with direct reports regarding review and completion of monthly self-audits and may include file auditing to ensure adherence to established procedures
- Acting as liaison between direct reports, senior management, internal, and external stake holders when issues arise requiring attention
- Performing staff performance evaluations and makes recommendations as required
- Approving, monitoring, and tracking department vacation, sick, and remote workdays for direct reports, providing quarterly summaries to the Director, BSAA
- Reviewing and monitoring any staff expenses for direct reports, including Continuing Education courses
- Collaborating with the Director and other department managers to oversee the development of workflow systems to effectively and efficiently manage workload of the Personal Insurance team
- Reviewing/Approving Monthly Timesheets for Non-Exempt direct reports
- Leading the team and provides a work environment that is supportive of the productivity and morale of all staff
- Conducting process and needs assessments across the department, implementing initiatives for continuous improvement
- Executing and facilitating regular meetings with staff:
- Monitoring and auditing workflows
- Ensuring staff feel supported and heard by department leadership team
- Communicating Axis’ goals and achievements
- Collaborating with staff to monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Providing training and mentorship
- Immediately dealing with staff issues and working towards a timely resolution
- Developing and maintaining high service level standards for the department
- Effectively motivating and supervising employees, including team building

- Working with Personal Insurance team on Accounts Receivable follow-up and collection, escalating to the Director as necessary
- Ensuring all documents are accurate and that files are kept in an orderly manner
- Performing periodic file audits to ensure procedures are followed by all direct reports

Must haves:
- Minimum 7 years’ Personal Insurance experience, consistently meeting internal core competencies
- General Insurance Agent Level II license through the Insurance Council of Ontario or equivalent license in the individual’s province of residence, with the ability to obtain a British Columbia license
- CAIB, CIP, CRM or other insurance designations, considered an asset
- RIBO &/or other provincial licensing, considered a strong asset and may be required
- Post Secondary Degree, considered an asset
- Experience using EPIC broker management system, considered an asset
